About the room
Welcome to Magnolia House!
I’ve lived here since I purchased the house in October 2019 (talk about perfect timing). It’s a two-story “working man’s home” that was built in the late 19th century.
Your room would be on the second story next to mine. It has a window that faces the street. It has a bed and some side tables in it right now, but those could go into storage if you want to bring your own furniture.
The general layout: The main floor is a shared living space with a front sitting room with a very old grand piano, a large dining room, my office, a living room with a TV, one bathroom, and a kitchen at the back. My office is available if you’re looking to grab some reading material, use the printer, or ride the Peloton. There is a guest room on the main floor that I rent on AirBnb. There’s a washer and dryer available for use in the basement and an outside clothesline if that’s your thing. I built a large deck onto the back of the house with furniture for relaxing, and there’s a large attached side lot for the dogs to run around with landscaping that’s a constant work in progress.
I share the house with two Great Danes and two cats, so please be comfortable with animals. The cats only really come out at night, but the Danes are a significant presence and hard to miss. Once they know you, they’re essentially very large lapdogs.
About the roomies
It’s mostly just me and the menagerie right now. I have a smaller room on the main floor I rent out on AirBnb. We’re at about a 50% average occupancy for that right now. We’re all really looking forward to adding another semi-permanent human to the space!
As for me, I’m a WFH Software Developer working in the public health sector. In my free time, I like taking the dogs for hikes, working on DIY projects around the house (there are random tools… all over), biking, yoga-ing, going to the symphony, and hanging out at my favorite dive bars and cocktail establishments.
Socially, I tend to go out to hang with folks, but I do occasionally like to throw the odd outdoor movie night, Sunday brunch, or random weeknight dinner party. I’m 420 friendly but do not partake. I’m not a clean freak, and don’t mind going to bed with dishes in the sink or on the counter. My only/biggest pet peeve is food ending up in my garbage-disposal-less sink.
