About the room

Room available for plant/horticultural enthusiast. Short walk from the Cal Poly Highland entrance. Currently there is one small room available $800/mo + utilities. The house is 3bed 1bath, and two people currently live here (including myself). 420 friendly, but strict “no pet” policy. Ideally looking for a recent graduate or young professional. As of now, you’d be sharing the house with two guys. Additionally, a smaller room may be opening up in the next month or two. We’d be asking 700/mo + utilities. If both rooms are available at once, I’d be open to working out an arrangement where you would take the larger of the two rooms, and we’d split the smaller one for guests/storage.

Background Story: To all interested, my name is Garrett, and I grow cacti as a hobby and side business. I’ve been dedicated to my collection for roughly ten years, and my plants are very important to me. 4-5 years ago, I was looking for a new place to live, and needed enough outdoor space to continue my work. I saw an ad on Craigslist similar to the ad you’re reading now, and immediately responded. When I saw the place, it was a dump. The house was falling apart, and barely liveable. Junk had accumulated on the property from over a decade of tenants, with no real clean-up for that entire duration. But to me, the biggest factor was outdoor space. The back yard was HUGE. It was completely overgrown and full of half-buried junk that had been there for years, but it was more space than I would ever need for my projects. I couldn’t pass on the opportunity. Since then I’ve spent an insane amount of time cleaning the place up, and I’ve essentially turned the back yard into my own little private plant nursery. The house has been cleaned and I’ve made a lot of repairs, but it’s a very old house, and only so much can be done. On the bright side, you’d be free to make any changes to your room, ie. Shelving, paint, etc. Also, there are still large amounts of unused outdoor space for projects/activities. Really, the house is what you make of it, and we have a lot of freedom as tenants compared to your average living situation. I’ve always felt content with the trade-off. Hoping to find a roommate that sees the same value in the place. Anyway, if you’re interested in scheduling a time to stop by and check out the room, it would be great to hear from you. Feel free to email or text to set up a time.
