About the room

Hello! My fiancé and I (there are 2 of us!) are looking to fill the second bedroom in our 2bd/2ba apartment we rent near the Hollywood Bowl. Rent is $1200 + utilities (electricity/wifi) and the term is for one-year (July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024). The room has its own bathroom w/ shower, closet, and comes with a hallway linen drawer for your use. It also has central heating/air conditioning. The carpeted room is about 11’ x 13’ and can comfortably fit a full size bed and desk. The kitchen and common area are fully furnished with tables, chairs, couches, etc., and there isn’t much room for additional furniture. Our kitchen has a gas stove & oven, microwave, dishwasher and industrial sink. We have a good collection of plants and would be happy to add more. There is a pantry with space to store your dry goods, drinks, etc. We have a plant-filled balcony with chairs that makes for a perfect calm space to relax. It overlooks a heavily wooded area and gets morning and afternoon sunlight. That sunlight fills our common area and bounces around off of an enormous wall-mounted mirror. The living room and bedrooms are carpeted, and the entryway and dining area are hardwood floors.

HOA Amenities include: Tennis court; pickleball court; hot tub; 2 outdoor pools with lounge furniture; 4 saunas; gym w/ basic equipment; rec room by one of the pools with ping pong table, pool table, tv, & kitchen; lots of peaceful outdoor space within the complex; coin or app washer/dryer units on every floor (4 units per level); 2 covered parking spots we rotate usage for as well as ample street parking; unit has central air and also has a balcony looking out onto a peaceful hillside.

The unit is a gated condo complex of individually owned units that has an HOA which takes great care of the facilities that we get to utilize at no extra cost! See the list of these amenities below~ The owner of our unit has been considerate of rent increases and uses a rental property management to handle rent, maintenance, etc. Built in 1966 every building is named after a different Spanish city and is modeled in the same architectural style. We are in a quiet area at the base of the Hollywood hills that is truly beautiful and heavily wooded. The complex has walking paths inside its area. There is even a private hiking trail out the back of the complex to above the Hollywood Bowl and the Bowl itself it just a 15 minute walk away! Our neighbors are young families and established professionals. Besides for occasional get-togethers, there aren’t any loud partiers in our complex. The 222 and 224 Metro bus lines have a station at the base of the hill, and the Hollywood/Highland Metro Red Line stop is about a 25 minute walk. The apartment is right next to the 101 and has easy access to both the valley and the city, but there is not great walkability. We are on the second floor, and although there is a way to get in using an elevator the most direct route uses stairs to get up. Our unit door is wide enough to accommodate wheelchair usage, but unsure of how friendly the complex itself is.

About the roomies

We are a clean and friendly couple (he/him, she/her, cis, white) in our mid 20s, and have a 5-year old cat who is very friendly with people. She has not been allowed into the secondary bedroom that we are renting out, and we vacuum the common spaces weekly. We are LGBTQ+ friendly and welcoming of all backgrounds. We love playing board games, pickleball, reading on the balcony, and exploring new food in the city. We can definitely appreciate nights in with a good movie or TV show (HBO Sundays rule). We like getting drinks with friends, but don’t go to the clubs and 2am nights out are rarities. We both grew up on frequent hikes and being outdoors, and are reconnecting with that aspect of ourselves this summer. We have furniture and decorations in the common areas, but don’t leave clutter out and expect the same courtesy. I am an actor who will be taking self-tapes in our bedroom, and my fiancé DMs a D&D campaign weekly and likes to game in the evenings (often on a mic with friends). Aside from that and the occasional get-together, we are a pretty quiet bunch. My fiancé is a student and barista, so on work nights we turn off the hallway light and head to bed around 10pm. He is semi-WFH since classes are online when he’s not at the café and I too am WFH with a hybrid schedule. Our WFH space is in our bedroom where we have desks set up. We are a wipe-the-stove-down-and-counters-after-using kind of household, and don’t let dishes accumulate especially since we have a dishwasher :)
