About the room
I’m looking to sublease out a large bedroom (13×13) in a 1400sq/ft townhouse. Its a 1&1/2 bath so keep in mind we would be sharing the main bathroom. The 2 bedrooms and shared full bath are upstairs, while the living room, kitchen and half bath are on the first floor.
There is a fenced in backyard and driveway parking. I’ll cover all utilities so the $1000 includes water/trash/sewer, electricity, internet & lawn.
About the roomies
My sister moved out a few months ago and I’m now looking for a roommate to fill the empty room. My main reason for wanting a roommate is so that I have more flexibility to save for a house and focus on financial goals. I’m super down to earth, easy going & a home body. Ideally, I’d love a career-oriented roomie who is looking for a shared living situation to ride out the current housing market climate.
I believe communication is key and would prefer we both be upfront about any deal-breakers ahead of time to save time/energy. So, rather than just saying “large private room in a quiet neighborhood”, I’m going to provide any details about myself below that I feel are crucial to know :)
Home Environment:
I (29/F) work remotely so I’m home most of the time, especially Mon-Fri. If your ideal roommate is never home or spends almost all their time in their room, that’s not me lol.
Since I work from home, I do spend a lot of time in the common rooms because being shut in my room 24/7 would drive me stir-crazy. I won’t ever ask you to accommodate this however, and I’m happy to retreate to my room if I need a more focused/quiet environment.
I like to keep the house organized but I’m not a “neat-freak”. I don’t party, have lots of people over, or use any substances, and I rarely drink alcohol. If you do enjoy any of the above, you should be aware that the landlord would be our next-door neighbor - and he’s a cop. The plus side of this is that the home is well protected but, if partying or having loud get-togethers is your thing, then this living situation wouldn’t be a good fit.
A little about me:
I enjoy reading, binge-watching shows, crypto conferences/communities, researching history, hiking, and kayaking. I spend most weekends out with family/friends, but don’t worry, the pup always comes with me on my weekend escapades.
Pets:
I have both a dog and a cat so being an animal lover is a requirement. One additional pet is allowed as long as its house trained!
Cats are welcome 😻 Dogs are a maybe 🐶
- In terms of a dog (as much as I’d be happy to welcome another dog) we would have to have a convo with the landlord first to request approval.
Obviously, any potential pets must be dog/cat friendly
About the Pets in the Home:
My cat is your typical kitty: very easy going, independent, floppy & loves to play. Both my cat & dog are fully house trained and never have accidents.
My dog is an ESA & my best friend. He loves other cats/dogs, is very well behaved, a couch potato & of course, is not aggressive whatsoever. However, he does bark when new people enter the home until he’s gotten to know you & may appear intimidating initially due to his size/stature.
Personally, I think the most important thing to know is that my dog sheds… a lot. I’d like to get that out there now in case it’s a deal breaker lol. I do my best to keep the shedding/hair under control but he’s shepherd/husky mix so it’s a never ending battle. If you have allergies or just hate heavy shedding breeds, then this probably isn’t the best fit for you. If you understand the struggle of loving a floof ball - or simply don’t mind sharing the home with one - then I’d love to chat more & see if this sounds like a good fit!
