About the room

Hi! I am looking for one roommate to split a house in White Center that I am leasing from my friends who are teaching abroad. The lease runs from August 1-July 31, 2024, and will likely renew at the end of this term.

Rent is $1260. For utilities and internet, I would budget $250 per month, but often it is less than that. Part of rent is helping upkeep the yard. There is a $40 charge for a background check through the rental agency. Sorry no pets.

This house, yard, and garage are incredible! You would have the entire upstairs to yourself (first several photos), which has a room with a door, loft area that could make a cozy hang out or office, storage nooks, and toilet with sink. Downstairs, there is a full bath and the shower would be all yours unless we had a guest. Shared spaces would include an extra office/guest bedroom, living and dining room, and kitchen, of course. The yard has two patios, tall trees, chickens, a fire pit, fruit trees, herb garden, and a greenhouse and raised garden beds that could use some love. (I love yard work and perennials, but gardening is not my forte, maybe it’s yours?) The garage is a great place to store bicycles and camping gear.

About the roomies

I am a 41-year-old, white, nonbinary femme, and teach middle school science in the local school district. I’m also a master native plant steward which means I volunteer to remove invasive weeds and plant native trees and shrubs. I love being outside, bicycling, reading, cooking, and geeking out on native plants.

What I am looking for in a roommate is to strike a balance between collaborating on projects around the house, being friendly, and perhaps occasionally hanging out, with giving each other plenty of space and alone time as well. My teaching job can be very demanding and I enjoy time to be in my thoughts. Boundaries and emotional maturity are key! I try my best to use direct communication, and be a good listener to look for compromises. Some of my must haves are quiet in the evenings and mornings, and a clean kitchen so it’s ready to be used by anyone. Also, I know this is random, but I love it when people know the rules of recycling, lol.

In the past I have had BIPOC, queer, and roommates of all ages. All the folxs I have lived with were invested in the community, particularly in White Center and South King County. Speaking of, this place is a short walk up and over a hill to 16th Ave, and a quick bike ride or drive down to Lincoln or Seahurst Parks.

Please be in touch if this sounds like a place for you, and be sure to tell me a little about yourself. I know you’re looking for a wonderful place to live, but I am looking for someone to live with. :)
