About the room

Hello, We have a decent basement space we’d like to rent out. It is not completely private as we have the laundry next to your kitchen and a shared extra living room that we rarely use (but the cat sleeps in at night). It is in our home in NW Portland Washington County. Private bathroom, your own kitchen. $875 a month. Utilities are split in thirds and run about $130 a month for elec, water, internet, trash. Bedroom is 8’4 x 12’6, with no closet but has a large wardrobe. On street or driveway parking for one vehicle ( and room for another possible motorcycle in driveway too), Central air conditioning, washer and dryer, small area for personal storage.

mid July or August 1st availability. Willing to postpone

Background check required, professional/personal reference upon request. First month, last month, and security deposit ($300 or $500[if pet]) at move in.

The space is in the basement, runs a little chilly but warms up quick with our space heater. It’s not exactly polished, but has everything the right person could need.

Here are our personal caveats:

No couples or kids, No frequent overnight guests (like more than once or twice a week), small get togethers are welcome as long as house guidelines are accepted, and they are discussed ahead of time. Not a party home here, sorry.

No candles, incense, pot smoking or vaping inside the home. No cigarettes at all, sorry I was a former smoker. If you want to burn a small bit of sage or palo santo once or twice a month that’s cool.

We ask that you use the fan when cooking, use the fan when showering, clean the dryer lint after each load.

We are asleep by 9 or 10pm on weeknight, 11pm on weekends, and awake during the week at 0530 or 6am.

Looking for someone who is on a similar sleep schedule as the home is not sound proof.

One well behaved cat or dog is welcome. They need to tolerate or get along with other animals. Please clean up after them.

Ok, so now that is out of the way, if you made it this far, here is a bit too much about who you will be sort of cohabitating with:

K (34female) and I, R(40male) are cisgenders in a longterm monogamous relationship. We are welcoming of all genders, races, sexualities. We value honesty and healthy communication. We enjoy being outside, spending time with our cat and dog, hikes, camping, BJJ, gardening, apothecary stuff, cooking, aerial arts, dirtbiking, skiing, biking, the occasional toke, and a beer or 2. If you are into these things as well as questionably good music, existentialism, misanthropy, atheism, deep ecology, that would be cool, but if not, it still is cool. For work, I’m a nurse and K is a food service manager.

If you are interested and think you would be a good fit, let us know a bit about yourself and we’ll be in touch.

Thanks, R

About the roomies

K (34female) and I, (40male) are cisgenders and in a monogamous relationship. We are welcoming of all genders, races, sexualities. We value honesty and healthy communication and are able to work out our differences. We enjoy being outside and spending time with our 2 cats and dog, hikes, BJJ, gardening, apothecary stuff, cooking, aerial arts, dirtbikes, skiing, the occasional toke, or a beer or 2. If you are into these things as well as questionably good music, existentialism, misanthropy, atheism, deep ecology, that’d be cool, but if not, that’s ok too. For work, I’m a nurse and K is a food service manager.
