Shay's room

Hey there! Me and my roommate are looking for a third to rent out a room at the place we’re currently leasing. Rent is $600/month + ~$80 in utilities, and you’d be getting an unfurnished 10x10 room with a shared bathroom (Room is pictured furnished but everything will be moved out, unless you end up wanting the desk or string lights or something). We have a lot of common furniture and housewares already, so the only thing you’d have to worry about bringing is a bed. We also have a full kitchen and living area, and an in-unit washer and dryer. The house is about 15/20 minutes from KSU campus and we’re looking for someone who can move in between now and July (the earlier the better!), and is ideally around our age.

It’s worth noting that smoking is against our lease and I would prefer to be with someone who doesn’t drink in the house (occasional drinking is ok, I just don’t want to be with someone who gets drunk frequently). We also have two cats, Mozzarella Stick and Twix Bar, so please be sure you aren’t allergic to cats! We do not have enough space inside or outside the house to responsibly support a dog, so we ask that you please do not have or plan on getting a dog if you want to room with us.

There is a police/fire station at the entrance of the neighborhood, and all of our neighbors have been really nice. Even though we have thin walls, we haven’t had any noise problems. The roundabout at the beginning of the neighborhood is good for stargazing, and we have a pool a short walk away from the house. My name is Shay (18, 19 in May), and my roommate’s name is Evan (20). Both of us go to KSU; I’m a Biochemistry major (interest in materials science/organic electronics) and Evan’s an English major (interest in linguistics). We’re both reasonably personable, but we have house rules in place that allow us to communicate social time and me time. Neither of us have ever had any problems paying our bills, and we both try to be pretty responsible people. Neither of us are huge party people either, but we will have friends over from time to time and be sure to clear it with you first.

As for Mozzie and Twix, they are both very sweet and personable kitties. Mozzie is very curious and wants to do what you’re doing all the time, whereas Twix is a little more shy, but she’s working on building up her confidence. Even though they’re both pretty young cats, they’re pretty well-behaved and aren’t going to shred your belongings to bits.

I like to keep our house pretty clean, both because I like having a clean house and I have allergies, so you won’t have to worry about the place falling into horrible disarray. I may ask you to help out from time to time, but I don’t mind ending up with the lion’s share. I also love cooking and baking, and I love to share what I make!
