About the room

Cost: $666 to $1000 /per month + shared utilities. This is a 3 bed/ 3 bath apartment. If rent is split 3 ways we each pay $666. In the event that the other room mate moves out I do need someone who is able to afford up to $1k while we look for a new roommate.

The space for rent: This space feels more like a studio apartment within the larger apartment. It’s around 400 sq ft with its own bathroom (with tub) and a small stairway off the living room. It has the most privacy. The last room mate left a nice full mattress (no frame) and a few small tables. You can keep or toss those as you like. Wood floors. This space has a nice feel. My kid is currently using it as his own ‘apartment’. (See smiley face pic)

The apartment: Not a shotgun. The walls are all real wood (pecan & Cyprus) so it’s cozy and kind of feels like you’re in a boat or 1978. No porch or yard. Entry leads to 2 small flights of stairs. (Can store bike) Main room is big and open - small kitchen, I’m a professional painter and my studio is in the space. Big comfy living room that is communal. Washer dryer. Located uptown near oak st - walk to street car, coffee shops, book store, parks, tons of places.

About the roomies

People: Currently 4 people live in the apartment total. There is a small hallway off the main area that leads to our rooms. In one room is a couple - Emily and Alex. They are in their 30s. Both early childhood teachers during the weekdays and run a magic school in the evenings. They have one reclusive cat. They both write and create various types of art in their spare time, and enjoy moderate cooking and gardening.

In the other space is me and my 7 year old son. I’m a 37 year old artist. I primarily create and sell oil paintings. My son is obsessed with comic books and fart jokes. I also run a weekly life drawing group on Thursdays in the living room.

Because of school we are all on similar schedules. My son is in school on weekdays and I paint. On weekends I usually work selling the paintings fri/sat/sun all day.

I would say we all err on the side of messiness, but do keep up with chores and have pretty relaxed clear communication about it. Good communication is a definite must.

No smoking or drugs. No pets. No random people crashing over unannounced. Need to be able to pass a background check and meet landlord/ sign lease.

This space is really a family / artist type of place and our home. It has a nice safe, comfortable and creative vibe and we’d like to keep that going.

Get in touch to meet up and come see the space! Available asap.
