About the room
Hi there! π I moved out of my lovely apartment and my room is currently available.
The room is the largest in the apartment and has two entrances, one opening to the kitchen and the other to the living room. It is spacious enough to accommodate a queen-sized bed, nightstand, dresser, and desk/desk chair; a bookshelf could also fit if you locked one of the entrances. It has two small closets, one with shelving and the other with two mid-sized rods. The two bedroom windows face northwest and get indirect sun throughout the day. It does not have a ceiling fan, so a window A/C unit or portable fan is highly recommended for the summer
Apartment details: Our apartment is a three-bedroom, one-bathroom unit on the second floor of a three-unit building. We keep the apartment clean and enjoy an open, welcoming home environment. We have a large living room with a small TV and a midsized kitchen with a recently-updated gas strove. We have a large, walk-in pantry and standard refrigerator and we split the space evenly three ways. There is a free washer/dryer in the basement that we share with the other two units. The basement can also be used for storage. There is street parking and frequently space available (permit required). There is also a driveway that operates on a first-come-first-serve system with the two other units. We have a great working relationship with our landlord; he is responsive, easy to get in touch with, and typically fixes any apartment issues within a few days.
Neighborhood details: We are centrally-located with various popular neighborhoods in walking distance. We are 0.8 miles from Harvard Square (~18 min walk), 1.5 miles from Inman and Central Square (~30 min walk), 1 mile from Bow St. Market, Porter Square, and Union Square (~15-20 min walk), and 1.5-2 miles from Kendall/MIT (~35 min walk). There are wide, well-maintained bike lanes throughout the area and three grocery stores within 0.3-0.5 miles (8-10 min walk), a Market Basket, Whole Foods, and Star Market. Within a 20 minute walk or less, there are coffee shops/bakeries (e.g., Broadsheet, Forge, and Petsi Pies), breweries (i.e., Aeronaut, Remnant, and Lamplighter), and several restaurants. If youβre a runner, you will find several nice route options. We are 1 mile from the Charles River, 1 mile from the Somerville bike path (entrance on Lowell Street), 2.5 miles from Mystic River, and 2.5 miles from the Fresh Pond Reservation.
Note: You can move in before April 1st, with approval from our landlord and housemates. Our landlord will ask you to officially sublet the room.
About the roomies
You would be living with two lovely humans. One is a PhD student (26 yo) who has lived in Boston for 3 years and studies climate science. The other (25 yo) is an archivist and has living in Boston for about 2 years. Both are very active (running and cycling), enjoy cooking/baking, tend to rise and go to bed early. We keep a light, familial atmosphere within our home and I would like to find an new housemate that appreciates that kind of that atmosphere as well. We do not smoke. Although we do sometimes have company over, we do not frequently host many guests.
