About the room
Hi! I’m looking for a housemate. We’ll each have our own bedroom and share the rest of the house, including the bathroom, living room, dining room, kitchen, a bonus room, basement storage, deck, and washer/dryer. It’s a oak-floored brick house on a safe, secluded and quiet wooded lane in the middle of the Lakewood neighborhood. Moss and white oaks in front, a large garden yard in back, and protected woods on the side. Verdant and tranquil, but only seven minutes’ drive each from Duke, NCCU, and downtown Durham. It’s a 3-minute walk from the front door to the bus stop; 15 minutes to 26 restaurants and 2 grocery stores. Target and South Square’s diverse shopping are a five-minute drive.
About the roomies
I’m Andrew, your (or somebody’s) housemate. I’m a Duke alumnus (whoop-de-doo), carpenter, general contractor, keyboardist, and guitarist; gay, bookish, 59, a little melancholic, and would give you the shirt off my back. I’m white but have spent my adult life in Black families, neighborhoods, churches, and communities.
I like intelligence, realness, kindness, some attention, and nature. I hope to be friends with my housemate, though it has to flow.
