The Woods Drive

Hello all, We’re a household of 3 looking for a 4th roommate. The apartment is located in The Woods apartments in San Jose. We have a room available and you would have a bathroom thats shared with 1 other roommate(Keenan). I will give as much detail I can but hopefully not too much and if you have any questions feel free ask.

Cost: Rent: 975 due the first of every month

(High speed gamer)Internet 18$ per person)

PGE: Varies on usage, but 200-300 per month split evenly 4 ways so 75$ per month

Optional parking spot: 145-160 per month (price may vary with the new year because seems like everything is rising in price) the other option is to try to find an open spot.

Optional storage: the woods does offer storage spaces for rent so if that’s something you’re interested in you can contact the office. Honestly the apartment itself doesn’t have a lot of space to store things.

About the Woods:

It’s a large beautiful and gated neighborhood with several pools hot tubs, 1 community garden and 1 to 2 small gyms. We are located in the cedarwood village that has two laundry facilities(paid via phone app) and one hottub and pool.

Parking is a hassle and a half. if you have a car overnight it must have a barcode. For overnight guests you have to go the office before 6pm to register their vehicle otherwise they get towed. We can help you get that barcode or wrangle the security guards to get it all worked out.

About the Space:

All the rooms are upstairs, master bedroom and full bath and 2 bedrooms and 1 full bath. You would getting 1 bedroom it has one window one closet and heater. It does not have a ceiling light unfortunately so you would need a standing lamp. Again you would be sharing one full bath upstairs with Keenan.

The downstairs: We have a living area, a small dining area with a table and a small kitchen. We’re still in the process of getting more furniture for the space like a coffee table but we do a lot of console gaming. There is also a small patio outside connecting to the living room.

Our dynamic is pretty laid back and we take turns cooking meals and cleaning depending on our energy levels and the 3 of us share the grocery bill. We’re pretty direct with each other in terms of requests issues and sorting out chores or logistics. I’d say we’re not OCD when it comes to cleaning or rigid just that we try to stick to the rotation of chores so no one person gets burnt out or feels overwhelmed or alone in them.

We use Chime a separate bank account the keep the rent money in. And we send portions or the whole rent in it through out the month. About twice a month I will check in with everyone to see what their plan for paying their part of rent is unless they already said it.

Food: Your welcome to split the grocery bill with us or do your own thing. Tho if you choose to do your thing just label your food so we remember not to use it. Because otherwise we will forget. If you do, do your own thing we will try to find space for your food only. Tho there’s not a lot space in the kitchen.

Extras: We have a few game consoles, Netflix Disney plus.

Household Rules:

Always pay rent on time 3-4 days before the first of every month to allow for bank transfers. if you can not let us know ASAP so we can adjust.

Always communicate when you’re sending rent to me or sending a portion to me via Venmo so I Immediately send it to the chime bank. It’s ok if you want to break it up amongst your paychecks.

If any issue or potential issue comes up over paying a bill just communicate asap so we can adjust.

I will always say when rent is fully taken out and fully paid. Same for other bills.

No smoking inside. Recreational drugs only and and try to reduce the smell of weed inside whenever possible.

If any guests just let everyone know when and how many for how long.

If you have a partner that you want to live with us they have pay for rent as well and we all have to met them and get along.

If your gonna have a party party with a ton of people try to keep them outside where they have tables BBQs and the recreation room. Give Everyone plenty of notice and time to mentally prepare themselves.

We want to keep the place a safe and comfy place so if any guest is being a raging asshole or creep we will have them leave( yes even family).

Chore chart: we’re all human but try to do your part, if for whatever reason depression exhaustion etc you won’t be able to, just communicate. Or if there’s only certain days you can communicate it or if there’s something you think isn’t working communicate.

Be respectful/ cool to each other and each others stuff and space. Which means lots of communication and healthy boundaries. If something was said or done or not done that upset you communicate it so we can work thru it.

Essentially we’re all kids in a large adult trench coats with adult responsibilities but that doesn’t mean we should be assholes to each other.

Pets: As of right now there are no pets And we would only take one very very special pet and that is a maybe at best. We would all have to talk at length about it and agree.

And you would have to be willing to pay the woods fee and deposit which is an outrageous sum in my opinion.

In terms of small animals like rodents fish or lizards or snakes or bugs that’s no problem as long as they are healthy, properly cleaned, taken care of and don’t stink or ruin the apartment it’s fine. If they do ruin the apartment at all we’d just have you cover the deposit.

About us: We all work full time, but in our downtime we’re all a couple of chill nerds of varying kinds. We’ve all known each other since high school and we’re good friends. We’re bit of an odd awkward bunch but we’re good people. Jarad and I are dating and we share the master bedroom. Keenan has his own room by the stairs and bathroom. We’re also always lighting some incense or using humidifiers.

We’ve been at the woods for 1 year and are slowly improving the space by adding furniture and etc. We drink occasionally and Keenan smokes weed. We don’t really party at all and occasionally we have a few guests over. If we do party it’s let’s all make food play some MTG or watch a movie or an anime together.

Keenan(32, he/him): Keenan is a really cool guy with a big heart, he works at Pete’s coffee full time. He’s a big gamer PC/PS5. He’s a good cook and a good straight forward guy. Occasionally will drink alcohol and smokes weed. He’s always always coming home with some kind goodie from his job. I’d say Keenan’s probably the most extroverted person in the house, and he’s great to talk to and listen to.

Jarad (31,he/him): Jarad works full time as a marital arts instructor/ assistant director. Jarads is a really patient and caring person who is pretty direct most the time. He’s also a big gamer PC/PS4/5. He doesn’t really cook, drink or smoke but he makes us all laugh. He’s always been the kind of guy if you needed help he’d do what he could and help ya out. He’s allergic to most artificial scents like perfumes and some candles. He’s always coming home with stories of his students kicking his butt.

Cas (myself, 32, she/her): I work full time as a vet assistant at veterinary Clinic. I love my job tho some days I come home dead tired and barely human. I’m a bit of an introvert but I love to cook share food and make tea. I love to draw read and watch anime. I occasionally drink and rarely smoke weed. I’m a quiet person tho sometimes clumsy. I am the one who collects the rent from everyone and pays the bills. I’m the one who usually makes the chore chart and checks in with people. I also always come home with stories and pictures from work that day.
