This is a short-term room rental for 2-6 months max. I (primary tenant of the apartment) love to rent out my extra room to people coming into Newport for the short-term! I don’t need a roommate, so I am always looking for someone who seems like a good fit and wants to have a great Newport experience with a local resident who loves this island. :)

Below are all the details. Please read the entire description and give me a few reasons you think you’d be a great fit for the space …

Home: It’s a 2-bedroom apartment on top of a home in a quiet suburb in Newport full of mostly older people. The apartment is fully furnished, as well as the bedroom available for rent.

Storage: Limited to one closet. The fully-furnished room does have two shelves/cabinets in it, and closet has some storage. May have a little storage in basement, but that is not guaranteed.

Bathroom: 1 shared bathroom

Rent: Around $912.50 per month each. This includes heat, water, and internet – so it’s a total of around $1,825.

Electricity: Around $100 a month, which would be split between us. It’s the only bill we pay outside of rent.

Pets: No pets allowed.

Children: No kids.

Sublease: It would be a sublease with a maximum of 2 - 6 months for sublease.

Washer/Dryer: Available on premise.

Dishwasher: None.

Landlords: Landlords have known me as their tenant for 4 years and a lot of trust has been established. I won’t allow anyone onto the property who would break that trust or will be irresponsible. Landlords are nice, but they are serious about having responsible people on their property. We will conduct an interview, and we will also call references and do a background check, as well as a credit score.

I’m 35 and work full time at Salve Regina. I’m also in grad school at Salve Regina and am graduating in May 2024. I’m very, very busy with work and finishing up school.

When I do have down time, I’m artsy and creative, and I love to paint, practice my violin/other instruments, etc. I also love the outdoors/nature and am hiking or at beach a lot. I’m a yoga teacher and love things like meditation, Tarot, and things like that.

This household is not 420 friendly, as I’m not into weed and am allergic to the smell. Landlords will not tolerate weed, other drugs, smoking, excessive drinking, or partying. Home is in a pretty quiet neighborhood. :)

In general, I’m a pretty chill person, but I have a clean household. So I’m up front with potential roommates about the fact that cleanliness is huge issue for me. Shared spaces (like kitchen and living room) are supposed to in general clean and you can do whatever you want with your own room. If you’re messy and won’t respect shared spaces, we probably won’t work well.

For kitchen, general policy is to clean up dishes after using them, since we both would be using them to cook.

I also am looking to have someone who genuinely wants to build a friendship and sometimes hang out, etc. I go out of my way to care for the people I allow into my life, and the same would go for a roommate.
