About the room
We have an opening for a housemate at a pretty nice house on one of the nicest blocks in North Downtown Charlottesville, adjacent to the CFA Institute and 1/2 mile walk to the Downtown Mall. About 2 miles to UVA Health, Martha Jefferson Hospital and the UVA Rotunda.
The first floor is common space. There’s a living room, dining room and kitchen that is a common space for two tenants/housemates. There’s also a front parlor that is used as a home office/work space by a small company on weekdays.
The second floor has a total of four bedrooms and two bathrooms. This upstairs space is divided with the other housemate. So, in other words, your private space ends up being two bedrooms and a bathroom. What’s available now is the main bedroom with an attached bathroom plus a smaller bedroom. Both bedrooms have good closets. Furnishings include a king-sized bed (tempurpedic mattress) and a nice big chest of drawers.
The kitchen is really well setup and ready to use, and the rest of the house is sparsely and flexibly furnished. If you have some or no things we can get you set up. If you have a whole house worth of stuff, things will get too crowded.
Rent is $1200 per month plus 1/3 utilities (gas, water, electric) and 1/3 of the housekeeper’s cost (biweekly housecleaning). Ting internet, trash sticker and yard care (by professional gardeners!) are included in cost of rent. There is one off-street parking space, but street parking is by permit, so you don’t have to compete for a space.
Please be sure to tell us about yourself! We are looking for one person (versus a couple or two people) and because this is a housemate situation, we will need to meet you in person versus trying to find a good fit over Zoom etc. Thanks so much for looking!
About the roomies
Our tenant who is already in place is a young professional affiliated with UVA and her small poodle. We think a tenant who, like our current housemate, is a millennial-generation professional (or professional-in-training), is a great fit. Another female is ideal, but our last housemate was a male, and he was fantastic! This is a great place for someone who wants to live in really nice place, and who likes to makes life better with their presence.
