RENTED until 3/6/23. We refer to this space as the Bamboo Shack and here we host long-term (at least 1 month) reservations for engineers, interns, students, entrepreneurs, medical professionals and travelers from around the world. Focused on technology, engineering, medical personnel and startups, our shack is a gateway to experience all of Austin, from the north with the tech campuses and the lake to the Domain and, of course, Downtown. The house is over 2,000 SF with 5 bedrooms.

This listing is for the room we call the Sacred Monkey Room. It is a room with a queen bed, desk, SMART TV, and closet. The bathroom is a shared one.

We have a large open kitchen stocked with all you will need to cook a fabulous meal (spices, pots and pans, etc., are at the house, but food will have to be brought!)

The People Our community attracts talented individuals from around the world. Whether you pursue an MBA, attend a school, start a company, seek funding, find market validation, expand your network, are a travel professional in the medical field or out to hack a project, we provide a quiet and professional environment with people like you. Our guests are usually sharing meals and interesting conversation, attending events and meetups, playing games, watching shows, and throwing BBQs.

The Space: We furnish every room with SMART TVs, desks and chairs, we don’t overcrowd the rooms, and we keep a professional environment so that you have a quiet place to work, read, relax, study, and code. We have comfortable living room with seating and work space at the table, and a spacious backyard with patio furniture, a hammock and games.

Great Kitchen: We pride ourselves in having the best cooking equipment: Blender, Keurig & Nespresso coffee maker, toaster oven, high quality pots and pans, and cutlery. We also have private shelf space and fridge space for your personal food items. We want you to eat well, enjoy cooking meals, sharing food, and making smoothies with fresh fruits and vegetables. We love food!

The Comfort: We strive to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We invest in high quality mattresses, pillows, and sheets to ensure that you sleep well. Our house stays clean because everyone contributes. If you make a mess, clean it up.

We reserve the right to ask any guest to leave for being sexist, racist, homophobic, rude, disruptive, violating others’ personal space, or violating the house rules.

Each guest is expected to make their bed daily, change/wash their sheets every week, and towels should be washed once per week. Clean sheets and towels can be found in the hallway closet.

We prohibit smoking of any kind (marijuana, tobacco, e-cigarettes, vape, hookah) in the house, in the back yard, or in the court in front of the house. If you do smoke, we will ask you to walk around the block while you smoke and to dispose of the cigarette butts in the trash rather than on the ground.

If you snore loudly, we may ask you to wear Breathe Right nasal strips when you sleep in order to minimize the disturbance to others.

If someone is wearing headphones, it may be a sign that they are working. If so, please do not disturb them.

If you cause damage to an appliance or item belonging to the house, or if you repeatedly leave messes behind which other people have to clean up, we will ask you to pay an additional fee.

The home is in a quiet neighborhood with wonderful trees and streams all around. Lifetime Fitness is about 3 minutes away, and other great places to shop and eat surround the house. It is very close to many of the tech campuses and gives a professional vibe. We picked this location because it is beautiful and so close to Austin, the lake and many places we love. The manager is a software engineer who is clean and has created a laid back vibe - where you are free to be yourself and enjoy your home but also encouraged to hang out, join a pick up game of volleyball or spike ball, cook and make new friends. The manager is very active, working both at home and many places around town. There is so much to do/say about northside of Austin & The Bamboo Shack is right in the middle of it all. The home is 14 miles to Lake Travis, 9 miles to Domain and 23 miles to Downtown (also easily accessed by train). We have a large house with a chill vibe ready for you to make friends and relax in a peaceful area. There is a huge backyard, with games and areas to hang out, along with a large kitchen with all the amenities of home. We would love to welcome you for an extended stay!
