Room: Room is very large (16.5 x 12 feet plus a closet that is a little over 3 x 4 feet), has hardwood floors, high ceilings, and 2 windows. It also has a private entrance with French doors that open onto the lovely backyard garden with hummingbirds and flowers. Windows and French doors are new. Roommate shares the main floor bathroom (shower and tub) primarily with 2 downstairs roommates. The room is single occupancy. Rent is $1290 a month not including utilities.

House: 5 bedroom house with a spacious living room with partial Bay views, dining room, kitchen, pantry, laundry room, 2 full bathrooms, basement (with a small work room that could be used as studio space for some types of art), garage, 1 drive way parking spot (rest is street parking, no permit), a lovely backyard garden filled with hummingbirds and butterflies and a small patio, a front yard with a lemon tree, and friendly neighbors on each side.

Neighborhood: The Thousand Oaks neighborhood is safe and quiet and walking distance to: groceries and shops on Solano Ave, many Berkeley hills paths for running and walks, bouldering at Indian Rock and the upcoming climbing gym on Solano. Area has free on-street parking, nearby bus routes, and El Cerrito BART is a 15 minute walk or bus ride away. For Cal people - the address is eligible for UC Berkeley student parking permits and the bike ride commute takes about 15 minutes and is mostly flat.

Housemates: We are a mix of 3 women and 1 man in our late 20s, 30s, and early 40s, working professionals and graduate students, with active and independent lives. L is a PhD student at Cal in the natural sciences and former middle school teacher who likes to garden, hike, beach comb, cook, and dance tango. S is an occupational therapist and enjoys biking, going to the nearby Kensington farmer’s market, and cooking. N is a working professional who enjoys cooking, spending time with her family, and reading. S works in tech and enjoys neighborhood walks and board games.

We are all vaccinated and are COVID aware. What we are looking for: We seek housemates with good communication skills who are considerate, clean, and quiet, but flexible, respectful of differences, and willing to meet people half-way and contribute equally to household tasks. We like to have monthly meetings to check-in with each other and discuss any house issues.
