Hello! We have one single occupancy room available in our home. Please take some time to tell us a bit about yourself and what you may be looking for in a living environment.

The room available is the SUNSHINE ROOM. ($1,100 / month - available now) It’s on the 3rd floor, with two South facing windows that overlook the backyard. There is one large walk-in closet, and painted wood floors. Please refer to the photos and floor plan in this ad. It features 2 recently installed double pane windows, and gets great natural sunlight all day. Great room for someone who enjoys drawing, or a nice view of Bay Area sunsets.

We are four people who coexist in a clean, friendly, and drama-free manner. We are looking for a housemate!

The 2 rooms on the main floor are currently rented. One tenant is a graphic/web designer who uses one room as an office. The other room is a bedroom. We have an 8 year old cat who usually stays on the main floor, but once in a while will take a look upstairs. The cat is human friendly, however since he’s a rescue, we’d prefer not to add additional pets into the mix.

The third tenant has lived here for three years and works a hybrid job for UCB labs. The fourth tenant moved here in January, works full time and he is currently taking night college classes.

We tend to be a clean and quiet household, especially at night. This isn’t a party or crash pad.

About the House: It’s a 1905, 3 story family-style home located on King Street, near Ashby.

5 bedrooms; 1 shared bathroom on the top floor (3 people), 1/2 bathroom next to the kitchen, and 1 private bathroom on the main floor. Common areas include a nicely sized kitchen, dining room, and living room.

The rest of the home is fully furnished, with very little additional storage space available. We offer most kitchen accouterments (pots/pans/silverware/dishes/glasses/mugs, etc.) for your use.

The Dining Room has new windows and insulation installed, the ceiling was redone and repainted. The Kitchen has a new gas range and fridge, and has been repainted. The upstairs (shared) bathroom has been repainted, with a new vanity sink and cupboard.

Spacious backyard / garden that we are constantly working on. It’s really nice to get out there with no noise distractions. BBQ grill and fire pit for when you do need a distraction!

Free, on-site washer and dryer.

Rent for each room is on a month to month basis.

PG&E and EBMUD (water/garbage) are not included and are split equally by all the tenants on a monthly basis. EBMUD averages around $35 a month per person. PG&E fluctuates over the year – During Spring and Summer, it’s around $40 / month. During winter it can get up to $ 70-100 a month, per person.

Shared 1 Gigabit WiFi available for @ $ 13.00 a month.

Move in cost is First, Last month’s rent, plus a $ 600 security deposit. ($ 2,800)

Our hope to find someone that we can have good chemistry and communication with. We’ve established a cozy, comfortable living situation. We’re currently comprised of a couple who are the master tenants (he has lived here for 23 years, she has lived here for 14.) He is 56 and works from home as a graphic and web designer, loves to cook and appreciates music, comedy, art and culture. She is 49 and last worked full-time as the office manager at a local architecture firm. She is currently taking care of her mother in Wisconsin who is ill. She loves reading, music, and art. (She’s kind of an old school punk rocker, but also an intellectual hippie.) The top floor tenants include a guy in his early 30’s who is currently working part time at a UCB lab part time on location, and part time from home whom has been here 3 years, and a mid 20’s male who works full time and is taking night classes.

We are LGBT friendly, and open minded.

We tend to be a quiet house hold, especially at night. Occasional guests are fine if you give everyone a head’s up. This isn’t a party or crash pad.
 This house is also a home to an 8 year old cat, who is a rescue we took in 7 years ago. We’d prefer not to add any additional pets to the household at this time. His name is Houdini, and while he is an escape artist, he’s a very friendly feline and very adorable!
