About the roomies

I’m 43. My son is 16. I won full custody a year before COVID lockdown. The last 3 years my son and I lived with my partner, who moved us into this little 3 bedroom rental house. Last month, she left. She had been supporting us, while I was battling the health care system to have accumulated medical issues addressed. It was too much for her. My son and I are in need of a room mate to help us keep the house. We have washer and dryer, decent parking, wifi, attic storage, on a quiet neighborhood street. The house is 2100/mo and utilities average another 800. We are looking for someone who can manage 1200/mo (including utilities) in exchange for the master bedroom, equal and open use of living room, kitchen and bathroom. I kind of prefer someone who wishes to coexist with us when they’re home, though someone who wishes to keep to themselves would be alright, too. Looking for a low-key individual.
I’ve been dry for almost a decade, so I’m not looking for a heavy partyer, but adult recreational activities don’t phase me. I don’t mind people drinking around me at all, as long as they don’t get obnoxious about it. The garage is the designated cannabis smoking place, though I am personally stepping back from that as well.
As long as my kiddo can do his homework, practice cello, get enough sleep, and feel comfortable in general, I’m extremely okay with a lot. We currently own 3 pet rats who’s cage is cleaned daily, so it’s not poopy smelly around here. Sadly, 2 of them don’t look like they’ll make it past Xmas, and my son and I haven’t really chosen replacement pets, but it probably won’t be rodents next time…they only live long enough to really get attached, and then they’re gone. Cats and dogs I have to clear with the landlord, but the yards are fenced, and my son and I are animal loving people. We aren’t in a fiscal position to do it, but we’ve actually wanted a dog this whole time.
