The room is for only one person (month-to-month, no lease).

The price includes high speed internet via WiFi, plus all utilities except television and telephone. I’ve never ordered TV service; I and previous roommates streamed the shows and other videos we wanted.

You’ll live in a standard size optionally furnished bedroom. Although the closet has a small footprint, it is well over 9 feet tall which allows much vertical storage.

There are a bed, dresser, bookshelf, nightstand, and lamps available. We can rearrange or remove bedroom furnishings to suit you, and you can bring in your own too. If you want to buy a locking doorknob, I can help you install it on your bedroom door.

You can make yourself tasty meals in the large, well-equipped kitchen. This kitchen is upgraded with granite counters, Broan Elite metal-and-glass range hood, and a set of Frigidaire Gallery brushed metal finish appliances.

My laundry room has a clothes washer but no dryer. I have several drying racks you can use. The community also has coin-operated washers and dryers (available 8AM-8PM), plus outdoor clotheslines.

You would also have use of a bathroom (shower/toilet/sink shared with everyone except me), dining room, and family room. You would have access to all common areas except my outdoor storage sheds.

The house has central air conditioning and heating.

The neighborhood is kind of suburban and quiet. I’ve lived here since 2003; we’ve never experienced crime in my lot, and I haven’t heard about anyone else having problems within the park.

This community has a small swimming pool.

The nearest shopping centers are less than a mile away: Albertsons and Aldi supermarkets, CVS drugstore, several fast-food and other restaurants, BevMo, and Home Depot. A short block away from those is Escondido Promenade.

Rancho Bernardo and San Marcos are a very short freeway drive away. Or drive west to quickly reach San Elijo Hills, and from there continue to Carlsbad, La Costa, or Encinitas.

The home is not suitable for big loud parties (not enough parking, other houses are too close).

Your criminal and credit histories will be checked. Don’t worry, it’s a “soft” credit check that won’t mess up your credit rating.

You must meet all of these standards: Monthly income exceeding three times the monthly rent. Cash equalling rent for two months, to pay the security deposit (normally refunded when you move out) and first month’s rent. A credit report suggesting a tendency to follow through on commitments and a high probability of on-time rent payment. A desirable history concerning evictions, dishonesty, and crime. No pets. No vaping or tobacco/drug use.

You would be living with the landlord (me, 50-something year old male) and one other roommate (late-50s male). We both spend lots of time on the internet (intellectually curious in general), besides working full-time. That other roommate is interested in current events.
