About the room

We purchased this beautifully renovated rowhouse in Little Italy/Harbor East not too long ago, and are looking to rent the self contained basement level (but with windows!).

Very large bedroom that could fit a sofa/desk/sitting area as well as bed, dresser etc. completely updated full bathroom (all yours!) - long hallway that could also be set up as your own small dining area. Laundry is in closeted space in hall (that would need to be shared with us). You have an exit out the metal, old “root cellar” doors, but would probably be easier to just come in the back door and down your staircase (your area closed off with your own door at top of stairs.

The room can be furnished (currently with nice Ethan Allen queen bed and set) or we can move that furniture out. We can also help you find other furnishings to outfit the area with whatever you need (husband has a resale furniture business). We’d consider outfitting with your own nice mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, but you’d have full use of a beautiful chef’s kitchen. Nice closets and storage on your floor, other storage possible through out home or back garage. Walk to all kinds of cool restaurants, bars, and allegedly new movie theater soon - 2 blocks from inner harbor/harbor east. Neighborhood parking pass available, husband parks on street every day and never a problem getting a space within a block of the house. I’m a TV salesperson by day, work from home 2-3 days a week and in office 2 days a week. BUT my home office is all the way on top/4th floor - you’ll never hear us. You have full use of main/entrance floor.

My job gets us great internet and every cable channel (and most streaming channels) for 20% of what others general public pays, and is included in the rent.

We have one older cat and two “teenaged” kittens/cats. They don’t ever have to go into your floor of the house (don’t go down there now) BUT would consider small rent discount for someone who could occasionally do light cat sitting and/or maybe feed them if we’re both late at work now and then (but if you don’t want to deal with that, no worries. we have a cat sitter).

We’re friendly people, good senses of humor, pretty progressive, but busy, too. Happy to have you invite a friend or two over etc, but not looking to have a full party come back to the house most of the time. Let’s go and have a meal and/or a drink OUT and leave the party out there. (though we do have guests or very occasional dinner party).

But if you never want to see or hear us, that’s easy to do. Very solid constructions, nearly impossible to hear someone on one floor to the next, even when you want to.

We’re completely flexible on move in date and aren’t “desperate” to have someone, just seems like a smart move to pay off student loans and a couple credit cards faster and put away money or a rainy day (or future home upgrades). The most important thing is for us to find the right fit, and we’ll wait. Also re “cannibis friendly” - you do you. But the smell gives me a headache which makes me sound 10000 years old. But it’s the truth, so what can I tell you? and really don’t want the house to smell like weed. So what you do outside the house is up to you - but nothing inside the house. No tobacco smoking in the house either. And if you’re into drugs beyond weed, just skip us. We’ve seen enough drug-drama in roommates in decades past, and aren’t looking for that in our home because it’s exhausting. Seriously, you’ll find a better fit elsewhere.

thanks!

About the roomies

Husband and wife in 50’s. No (human) kids. Wife originally from NJ, works for TV station based in DC, works from home 2-3 days a week and in DC 2x a week. Has a fun “hobby” that is almost a second job and takes me out of town at least once a month and out after work in DC/Baltimore a couple times a week. Husband has own resale/retro/antique/mid mod furniture business. Works 6-7 days a week, but own hours. Loves sports, MCU movies. We can walk to O’s games from our place and do that, go out to eat. Happy to hang out as much or little as makes sense. MUST BE NICE TO OUR CATS. You don’t have to let them in your space at all, but must be aware of their safety and not be a monster :-)
