One room available for rent in southwest Eugene. It is in a quiet neighborhood but is two blocks from bus routes on 18th and about 5 minutes from west 11th. Hiking is available nearby at Wild Iris Ridge. The house is a 3 bd, 1 ba, and has new (in the last year and a half) bamboo floors, roof, and paint inside and out. The yard has multiple recently planted fruit bearing perennials (kiwi, fig, blueberries, mulberry, and marionberry), an apple tree, a plum, two small raspberries, and a small garden space along with charming landscaping. There is a compost bin in the backyard. We are going to try for a garden this year, and welcome input on it. There is a washer and a dryer in the garage, and each housemate will get about 1/3 of the plentiful storage space in common rooms. There is room for three cars to park off street.

Internet and trash are included in rent, each room pays 1/3 of EWEB utilities (water, sewer, electricity). Average utilities were about $63/rm last year. This is dependent on how warm one likes the house.

The room: Wood room $560 (10x11) Available May 4: This room has a large closet. The exterior wall is wood paneling, and the large window looks out onto the front yard. This room comes partly furnished with a full size bed, a lamp, and a chest of drawers.

We don’t have strict house rules but would like to find housemates who will take care of the house and pitch in on light yard care. Housemates share cleaning responsibilities for common spaces.

We are a couple in our mid-late 30s, quiet except for occasional projects, we enjoy group meals, the outdoors, being friendly (our ideal would be to be friends with our roommates). We are also field botanists and spend a lot of time camping and doing surveys in remote parts of Oregon, California, and Nevada. We are interested in sustainability, Paul was an environmental science major at UO, and we are very interested in any conservation measures that we can do around the house. He is vegetarian. Kate went to school for forest pathology, and is also interested in the environment, hiking, climbing, fiber arts, and reading. One of our housemates is moving out roughly May 1st, and the other is a process engineer (I think that involves a lot of Chemistry).
