About the room
THE BASICS: Spacious apartment with 1500 sq ft of livable space It will be you and me sharing this three bedroom! Apartment features 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, dining room, sunroom, kitchen, 2 back decks, and a backyard. You can pick which room of the two empty ones you want, the other can be a guest room or storage, open to discussing how to use it. There is a bed there now, which you can have if you need. You would have 1 roommate (me!) Rent is $1,040 per person (you and I will split the total rent, which is $2,080.) Only utilities we pay are electricity (about $80-$90 in the summer/about $60 the other seasons) and then cable/internet is $135 a month There is also a housekeeper that comes every other week and that is $90 ($45 each.) He has been cleaning for me for 13 years and heβs wonderful!
MORE DETAILS: The building is a 3 flat. VERY large living room with a ton of windows and natural light There is an operational gas fireplace and built-in bookshelves A ton of storage space with a hallway closet, a separate linen closet, a closet in the spare room, and a basement storage unit. Bathroom β Has a newly glazed tub and a separate walk-in shower that is rather large! Dining Room β Large with exposed brick and an 8 seat steel & glass dining room table. Sunroom β Lots of windows and sun! Kitchen β Includes a dishwasher, large separate pantry, fridge, oven, and gas stove. Outside β Includes 2 back decks (one of them is shared) and a backyard (this is all ours and I have a pretty nice garden going back there!) FREE Laundry Room/Storage β The laundry room is in the basement and (I repeat) has 2 FREE washers/dryers along with a good-sized storage space.
LOCATION: The building is in East Lakeview, just 1 block from Lake Michigan! Paid parking available if needed. Amazing central location with everything you need within walking distance. Marianoβs, Whole Foods, Trader Joeβs, and Jewel/Osco all are a 10 minute walk or less. Along with tons of restaurants. This block is very quiet even though itβs between Halsted and Broadway (closer to Broadway). Steps to Broadway bus, 1 block to Lake Shore Drive buses, 1 block to Halsted bus, 2 blocks to Clark Street bus, and an 8 minute walk to the Belmont Station for the Red, Brown, and Purple Lines!
ME: I am an easy-going guy. I am a professional pastry chef but currently taking a break to find a new job that aligns with my passions. My hobbies include cooking & baking (obviously!), gardening, going out to dinner, movies, traveling, and taking advantage of all Chicago has to offer. I have lived in this unit for 12 years, itβs a wonderful space, location, and rental company. I have had many roommates come and go, a lot of which (like the two most recent) I am very close friends with still! My biggest request is no hard drugs and crazy binge drinking in the house (420 okay).
YOU: I am looking for a neat, respectful, roommate who is reliable, honest, and has good communication skills. Unfortunately no pets. Student or working full-time is fine. If you are interested, please reply to this ad and we can set something up! Would appreciate 1-2 references. The lease goes from 10/1/22 - 4/30/23. So if you love it, you can resign!
