Valentine's room

Hello I’m Val (they/them). I just moved to MI from CA; I bought a beautiful 4bd 2ba home. I am looking to rent out one of the spare rooms. Allergy sufferers, please note: there is a cat in this household and no other pets are allowed.

Large room is unfurnished and will be available starting Feb 2023. If you need the room to be furnished for you, it would not be ready until June 2023. There are two upstairs rooms to choose from (smaller room has a twin bed & will go for $450/mo, larger unfurnished room will be $500/mo, larger room furnished would be $600/month; total move in cost: $1125, $1250, or $1500 respectively). For short stays in the room with the twin bed the weekly rate is $175. Shorter stays than a week will be considered so inquire.

The shared bathroom is a temporary situation for shower use purposes only. Once the second restroom has shower door installed, you would no longer be sharing your shower.

ABOUT ME: So aside from my beliefs and criteria below, here are a few other things about me. I work from home. I don’t have any friends or family here in MI so I don’t get out much. I have a partner that also lives in the house. I am a non binary(AMAB), queer/pansexual, polyamorous individual. I go to the gym about 4 days a week and try to jog 1-3 days a week. I like binge watching tv shows. I like to read. I use SC; so we can chat if that’s easier. I’m open to becoming friends with my housemate but I’m also ok with keeping it strictly tenant/landlord and not hanging out together. If you have any questions about me, reach out.

SOCIAL AWARENESS: Ideal housemate will find that my following beliefs resonate with them. I believe all love is love; I believe in vaccinations and being thoughtful of others’ health; I believe that no gender, sexuality, sex, race, or creed is more deserving of respect than any other; I believe all love is beautiful and that loving all and many is a wonderful thing; I believe in speaking out against bigotry if you hear it; I believe using correct pronouns saves lives; I believe in a person’s right to choose what they do with their body; and I believe in being as kind as possible to anyone as much as you can.

SCHEDULE/PRESENCE: I work from home so the ideal housemate would be out of the house 90% of the time; spending no to very little time at home other than sleeping here. Second best would be a housemate gone from 10am-7pm Monday-Saturday and 11am-3pm Sundays. The nature of my work requires confidentiality so having a housemate that isn’t around during working hours would be mandatory.

NOISE/SLEEP: Ideal housemate would be extremely quiet and have a typical sleep schedule (1130p-9a). Second best would be someone who is moderately quiet, sleeps typical hours, but is fine with being told by owner that volume needs to be reduced. In order to prevent or avoid conflict: if you do not have a typical sleep schedule, WE ARE NOT COMPATIBLE HOUSEMATES. I am not someone that tolerates excessive or recurring noise issues; especially if it disrupts my sleep.

CLEANLINESS/ORGANIZATION: Ideal housemate would love to/goes out of their way to clean and keeps things organized/neat throughout the house, will assist in household chores voluntarily. Second best candidate does not have to love cleaning, but they are still expected to clean their space regularly, and will have no issue with being invited to help clean when it is time to do household chores/cleaning. Second best candidate will keep all their belongings in their room if they are not able to upkeep common areas organized. If you have ever been described as messy, cluttered, disorganized, unclean, or lazy, we are NOT compatible housemates. I will nag you to be clean and pick up after yourself if you don’t meet my minimum standards. (I’m not asking for hospital sterility either y’all; just common decent living conditions where I ain’t ashamed to bring a guest over).
