Southeast 22nd Avenue

We are looking for a roommate to add to a 3 person house in SE Como, move in flexible between Aug 30th-Oct. 1st! The house is a big two story with a large basement, shed and garage for storage. Small set of stairs (8 total in front, 6 in back) up to the house. The room to be rented is on the first floor, and it has a nice big window that faces the back yard. Its a smaller sized room so best for someone who is happy in that type of space. The house is also right across the street from a community garden (FairShare Farm), and right down the street from Como Tap, a corner store and some other restaurants and shops. Near different bus routes and close to U of M. We’ll have a shared main dining/living room, bathroom, kitchen w/ dishwasher, huge unfinished basement with washer/dryer and outside garage and shed. Accessibility note- multiple slightly rickety staircases down to the washer and dryer, not wheelchair accessible. Rent will be between $400-450 and utilities are paid by tenants but total cost is tbd, would likely be an additional $75-100 a month for everything.

Another important yet sad note- one of our cats has asthma so we can’t have any smoke/candles in the house 🥲 Essential oil diffusers are ok.

Lauren and Bek have been dating for 3 years and successfully cohabitating for the last 2+. We will be on the top floor, and there will be no couple drama :)

Lauren 24 she/her - I am a recent sustainable agriculture and food systems grad from the u of m and am currently working as a landscaper/gardener. I have 2 cats, a bearded dragon and a bunch of houseplants. I love gardening/growing food and design/fix-it projects, and really want to do some work around the house and in the yard. I love being outside, making art/crafting, reading and dancing 🕺🏽 and would love a roommate who has some similar interests and would want to hang. I really value open communication want to work to make a healthy living environment for everyone so talking stuff out is key. Cleanliness and picking up is important to me as well, and figuring out some structure surrounding that would be great.

Bek (24, they/them): I am an aspiring professional trumpet player, currently working part time at a sushi restaurant in the evening and teaching trumpet lessons/practicing during the day. Because of the trumpet, I’d ideally like a roommate either unbothered by the sound or able to communicate when acceptable practice hours are (I never play too early or too late!). I’d call myself a show pony introvert: while I do like to read, listen to music, and recharge, I love hanging out and having a good time, and want a roommate who would be down for house movie nights, meals, or thrifting. Solid communication, liberal/socialist views, eco-conscious lifestyle, CLEANLINESS, and good vibes required.
