Charlie's room

A private room ~ 280sq ft, is available for rent now in this large renovated 1840’s house on Cumberland Foreside. (another room in the same house will be available in December) Driving distances from the property are: 13 minutes to USM and Portland , 24 minutes to Bowdoin college, and 38 minutes to The University of New England. Private access to the ocean for swimming, kayaking, windsurfing, or mooring your boat is a 5 minute walk down the hill. The other amenities include a large swimming pool and hot tub, with a fire pit, as well as a ping-pong table, croquet, volleyball, and badminton, soccer nets, etc. all in the large fenced in private garden. The rooms are all private for one person, and come with the necessary bed, chest of drawers, desk and chair. There is off street parking for up to 12 cars. The common areas include a large living room with a fireplace and grand piano. The living room leads into the dining room, which is currently used as a hall, while it awaits its upcoming renovation. The dining room leads into the large kitchen. The kitchen has 2 ovens, 2 microwave ovens, and a dishwasher. There are 2 refrigerator/freezers, one in the kitchen, and one in the cellar along with an upright freezer. There are also various types of kitchen equipment, such as a coffee maker, KitchenAid cake mixer, a blender for milkshakes and fruit drinks, crockery, glassware, and flatware are provided. The kitchen has a door leading to the back garden and pool. The kitchen also includes a dining and social gathering area with a large screen TV. And access to the back stairs and the hall to the rear entrance. The cost of the internet and garbage collection are included in the rent. The cost of the other utilities, heating oil, electricity, propane and water are are shared amongst the residents, and not included in the rent. There are 5 bedrooms in the house. There are 3 full bathrooms upstairs and 2 half baths on the ground floor. The bathrooms and all the common areas are shared by the tenants.

I am a semi retired physician. 2 of the current residents are students, one is studying economics the other is studying Chemistry at USM. The 3rd is ex-navy and currently an HVAC engineer. The current tenants are between the ages of 20 and 27.
