About the room

We are a group of four girls that are currently looking for two more female roommates to rent a 6 bedroom/3 bathroom house located near the University of Utah with us! We don’t currently live in the house as we need to pay the security deposit in order to secure it. We are trying to find people as soon as possible, but we also want to make sure that it’s right place for you.

The rent for the house totals out to $3999, but split between six total people is about $666 per person, plus utilities. The utilities are split between all of the roommates, and while the exact utility costs aren’t known yet, it’s estimated to be less than $100 per person. We are also planning on getting 2 gigabyte Google Fiber internet, which would be about $16.70 per person.

The lease requires an 8 month commitment minimum, however it can be extended out longer if we like the place and want to stay. There is an application fee of $25 so that a background check can be ran. It is preferable if you have someone willing to cosign for you, but it’s not a requirement. We all need to pay the security deposit of $3999, but that will also be split up between everyone for the same cost as the rent. Our desired move-in date is August 22-25, but anytime between then and the first of September is fine, so just let us know what date works best for you!

The house is in a gorgeous neighborhood with only a five minute walk to get to the U campus and the stadium trax station. All of the houses in the area are older and very unique. The area is both a safe, and a quiet place to live. The property happens to be a duplex, so we would have three tenants living on the floor above us, but we would have the main floor, as well as the floor below it. It also has a beautiful backyard with grapes growing on vines. If you like gardening, you’re in luck! There are two private parking spaces behind the house, but they are first come, first serve. Parking in front of the house would require a parking permit, which costs about $20. However, for that price, you get two permits and they both last a year, so you can split the price with another person if you’d like. Lastly for the outside, there is a pretty big shaded front porch and a decently sized shaded back porch.

As for the inside of the house, there is some wear and tear, however the landlord is doing repairs before we would move in. Because the house is older, there is no air conditioning, but we are allowed to install window fans/box fans. There is heating though, if needed. The house also comes with a washer, dryer, dishwasher, microwave, and a pretty big fridge. The four of us have already on our rooms, so there are two available rooms left for you to choose from! The first room is on the main floor of the house and is a bit smaller than the other available room, and you would be sharing a bathroom with one other person. The other room is downstairs and is bigger, and you would be sharing a bathroom with two others. The rooms are also first come, first serve. The upstairs bathroom has both a shower and bathtub, while the downstairs bathroom only has the shower.

While we all love animals, we are looking specifically for two people without pets. Lastly, there is no smoking allowed on the property.

About the roomies

We are all very chill, friendly, and quiet roommates. We are looking for similar. Everyone is LGBTQ+ friendly as that is very important to us. We’re all hoping to find roommates that we can become friends with and we have a preference for people who would rather live in a cooler home, rather than warmer as none of us like the heat. One person has a small cat that would roam around the house and another person has a pet lizard that they would keep in their room. We want to ensure we would all get along before committing to housing together.
