About the room

We have a beautiful and very spacious room available Oct 1st (possibly sooner) in our little Emeryville sanctuary.

We are not able to accommodate any pets unless they live in an aquarium. The room: $1400/month. Utilities are about $100 per month per person slightly higher during winter months. Private bathroom with large bathtub with jets Large walk-in closet/alcove area Private door to backyard

The house: Has lots of common space, and a lovely outdoor sun deck and a backyard with a vegetable/herb garden. We are conveniently located in Emeryville on 53rd between Hollis and San Pablo. Quiet neighborhood Free street parking Free shuttle to Bart half a block away One block from San Pablo and bus line 51 Walking distance to food and groceries Bikeable to the Emeryville Marina

The community: We spontaneously collaborate together on dinner. We value being friendly, laid back, responsible, communicative and emotionally intelligent housemates. We don’t have ragers and respect quiet hours. Quiet hours are roughly from 10pm to 9am. We share the cleaning of the kitchen together weekly, as a group or solo event depending on our schedules. We are united by a set of common values as community members who are focused on moving towards making a positive impact locally and globally. We value the Diversity and that Love that is the Bay Area.

You: Are a friendly, flexible person, good at getting along with most folks and wanting a community that is social and supportive, while still enjoying some level of independence. You believe that COVID is real and participate in working on defining the boundaries we need to keep us all healthy. Perhaps you like cooking delicious meals with others! Perhaps you have a bit of quirkiness going on. You are respectful and mindful of noise, have good-follow through on commitments, and are good at communicating your own needs.

COVID:
We are all vaccinated, and you need to be fully vaccinated and boosted to apply for this room. We continue to be covid-consious as a household. We mask and test in accordance with state and local guidelines. We also self-isolate to the best of our ability when we are sick with non-covid illness. Ideally you feel similarly opposed to spreading illness of any kind to your housemates.

Please respond with a bit about yourself. Consider the following questions: What is your style of conflict management?
What does a normal weekday look like in your life? What are your thoughts on and experience with community living? What about this listing appeals to you? We will be following up to schedule zoom meet-n-greets with folks who sound like a particularly good fit.

About the roomies

H (She/her; White): I’m a fully vaccinated second grade teacher in Oakland. I’m an avid meditator, and when I’m not sitting or teaching I’m devising sustainable food and zero waste ideas, working on other creative community-minded projects, or backpacking in the mountains. You may see me dancing at bay area live music events, out on a trail or spending time with family.

S (She/they; POC) Fem yoga teacher, Thai masseuse and Bellydancer. β€œI’m fully vaccinated and primarily work from home. I also perform regularly all around the bay. Currently I teach yoga and meditation online and am leaning into my private massage practice. I’m a neat, 420 friendly, femme leading non-binary human. I feel that communication is key to a harmonious sanctuary and I enjoy breaking bread occasionally with my housemates. I love roller skating, nature, hot baths, and Netflix binging for fun.”

T (They/She; Black) Femme fashionista and non-profit director. I’m fully vaccinated and work from home 3 days/week. I love cooking beautiful soul food and decadent desserts, going out dancing at afrobeats/amapiano/house parties, and checking out local art exhibits
