About the room

Please read my room posting in its entirety. I am very direct in what I am looking for in a roommate. Please answer only if you qualify. Thank you in advance.

I’m looking for a roommate to rent out the master bedroom in my 2 bedroom townhouse, located in Viewmont/Hickory. Close to downtown, grocery & drug stores, YMCA, gyms, nail salons and restaurants. It’s a five minute walk to Lenoir-Rhyne college, ideal for students. The room is a good size, it will fit a king bed, large dresser, and nightstand with plenty of room left for a TV stand, bookcase, shelving units, etc. Large closet. The room is carpeted, has great natural light and a new ceiling fan. Both bedrooms and master bath are on the second floor (it is a duplex); there is a half bathroom downstairs between the kitchen and living room. The kitchen is on the first floor. I don’t cook a lot, but you are welcome to, just clean up when you’re done. There’s a dishwasher, microwave, coffeemaker and toaster, as well as pots, pans, dishes, and ample shelving space for your food and any cookware you have. There’s a small table and two stools for seating. The half bath is in between the kitchen and living room, which is a decent size. The couch is brand new and has a roll-out bed. My desk is in there as well, and a tv stand/entertainment center. I do not own a television but you’re welcome to bring one. If you have living room furniture, you could bring some of it if you’d like, as long as the space doesn’t look super-crowded. Amenities include a private laundry room with washer and dryer, central AC, private parking spot right outside the door, and a nice in-ground swimming pool that will be open until Labor Day.

About the roomies

I am a female in my late 30’s, originally from NYC and have been here for two years. I work in Hospitality, so my schedule varies, and I work from home as well. I’m outgoing and friendly, but I like to keep to myself the majority of the time, and am a pretty private homebody. I stay in my room most of the time; it’s where I write and work on my e-commerce boutiques, listen to music, watch Netflix, etc. I am rarely in bed before 2am, but am mindful of not making noise. I vape tobacco inside, drink wine and rarely go out. I am very big on communication, as I want whomever moves in to feel comfortable as this will be their home. I am a straightforward person and always respectful, but don’t deal with passive-aggressive people well at all. I have a five year old Chihuahua who is sweet and affectionate, not a yapper (she barks when she hears the door or when people come in), and doesn’t bite. She will want to be your friend; my former roommates all adored her. She is completely my responsibility, all I ask is that you are kind to her. She isn’t crated, but rarely comes out of our room unless she hears someone coming into the house. If you’re not a dog person, or dislike small breeds, this is not going to be an ideal living situation. Unfortunately, I cannot allow additional pets. I am looking for a cool person who is clean, respectful and honest. Lenoir-Rhyne students welcomed, as long as you’re over 21. Entertaining friends and overnight guests is fine on occasion. If you have a significant other, they cannot stay over all the time. Women or g@y males only. No men (I have a bf and wouldn’t be comfortable), couples, children, hard drugs, racists, bigots, religious zealots or anyone looking for a hookup. LGBTQ very much welcomed, 420 friendly but all smoking must be done outside on the patio, vape pens excluded. I vape tobacco inside and am a big fan of red wine, almost always in my room but not exclusively. You must be gainfully employed full time outside of the home, and not have a criminal record. The Property Manager will do a credit and criminal background check to approve you as an occupant. The room is available July 1st. Rent is $650 a month, not including utilities, which are split two ways. To move in, I will need first month’s rent and a security deposit of $450. I’ve just renewed my lease, and would like a six-month commitment from a future roommate. Please contact me for more information or to schedule a viewing.
