Smith Street

This is my Grandma’s house. It is a wonderful house with lots of history and character. My grandma is in a rough spot with her health right now and it pains me to see her and the house as it is. Maybe a year or two ago the house looked great, but recently my grandmother let some extended family move in and they completely wrecked everything. The carpet had to be ripped out, the walls had to be painted over and scrubbed down, the furniture had to be thrown out and so much garbage had to be removed that we could have filmed an entire season of hoarders in the house going through each room. With that aside, we have completely cleaned out the trash, repainted the walls, removed the carpeting upstairs and scrubbed down the floors, fixed the washer and dryer, called an electrician in to do a bunch of maintenance, installed a tile backsplash in the kitchen, sanded down the stairs, bought new furniture, among other things. Take my word that the house looks nice and smells nice, but it is bare. The house is a great house with lots of space in it. It only has one working bathroom, but besides that everything is good to go. I am making the rent a little lower with the hopes that we will be able to find a good match for my grandmother, who is staying in the master bedroom. What I mean by this is you might have to clean up after her sometimes and do some house maintenance such as installing your own internet and cable as well as making sure her cat is taken care of. (Food/water/catbox) Pretty much whatever you are looking for, the house will be able to accommodate. You like cookouts? The house has a large backyard with enough space for some outdoor furniture/seating with enough space on the property to fit three or four cars as well as additional parking on the surrounding streets. You like staying home and watching movies? The house has a very large, open living room that can fit multiple sofas and a large wall for whatever size tv and decorative furniture you would like. You’re a student or someone who works from home? The room includes a huge, multisided desk and leather chair as well as a smaller cushioned office rolly chair. You like dinner party hosting? The house includes a large enough kitchen to cook whatever meal you would like as well as a large enough dining room to fit 10+ people. As I said, the house has a huge amount of potential for whatever you are looking for. The only thing we ask is that you would sand down and refinish some of the floors upstairs, and bring your own mattress/wardrobe. The floors look kind of bare since we took out the carpet and we have the sander and all the other stuff you’d need. (Consider it part of your deposit) In general, we are looking for a responsible long-term renter who is clean and won’t keep my grandma up at night with noise. She is a recovering alcoholic so you can’t smoke anything or bring any alcohol into the house. It’d be great if you could also police some of what she eats because she is diabetic and tends to eat a lot of sugar. Also if you could make sure she’s okay and tell me if anything is going wrong that’d be great too. Before I forget to mention it, the shared bathroom is yours to remodel however you’d like I know the wallpaper by the shower is kind of falling apart, and the asshole family members my grandma let stay in the house prior put in some kind of ugly looking faucet head that is just short enough to really piss me off because my hands sort of press against the edge of the bowel when I wash them so honestly if you want to completely rip out everything in the bathroom and redo it be my guest.

My grandma is the only one living in the house right now. She is having trouble with her health right now so she would need some light work done around the house such as cleaning and maybe cooking every now and then, I don’t know. The house has a cat right now so if you could make sure the cat is getting fed that would be great. She is a very nice person and she would be okay with a lot of renovations, that’s why I say a lot can be done with the house at your discretion. She is having a relapse currently so you have to be clean. No pot no alcohol in the house and no smoking. She needs someone to really look after the house and maybe put a hour a week or so to clean after themselves. She is a great, wonderful, caring person and I think you’d see that as soon as you meet her.
