Erica's room

This is for a room in an old, old house down a long drive in the middle of the woods with acres of forested land s and protected wildlife area surrounding. The house comes with its quirks; cobwebs, dust, clutter, old house smells, spiders, and an old man resident within. It also comes with a full library, sunroom for growing plants, and plenty of space to spread out, grow gardens, and have pets. This is a great place for someone who is low-budget and low-maintenance, can handle some grime, but loves privacy and nature. There is no air-conditioning and it can be hot in summer. The rent is cheaper than most because the house is far from perfect. Perhaps it is the perfect trade-off for someone.

The man in residence is a 75 year old beatnik with an ivy league education, love of books and games, and a surprising history in fine wood working and motor sports. He has lived in the Lambertville-Solebury area for his whole life, but has traveled the country in between. This man is well-educated, deeply opinionated, atheistic, extremely liberal, and well-read and interesting. He is also sometimes grumpy, messy, and a bit set in his ways. He likes Nascar races, historical books, and the New York Times crossword puzzle. He seeks someone who can share the space and sometimes hold up their end of the conversation or perhaps even participate in a few card games from time to time. Constant interaction is NOT a requirement. A good candidate is someone who goes about their own life and shares the space in some sort of parallel way. This is not a good fit for anyone who is too prissy, high maintenance, or dull. He would prefer similar old hippies-beatniks and hard-scrabble players with their own rich histories and stories to tell. He has COPD and relies upon a constantly running oxygen machine. Any candidate needs to be extremely COVID safe (ie vaccinated and wears masks in public and/or regularly tests). The best candidate would be an older companion like him who would have little exposure to COVID on a daily basis. He has a cat companion who goes in and out freely. Pets are welcome, as long as they are friendly to his cat.

Neat-freaks, smokers, people on hard drugs, white supremacists, conservatives, people allergic to dust or cats, or those who come with regular exposure to COVID need not apply.
