Joshel's room

The location is in Oak Hill (SW Austin) in the Patton/Small/Austin High school zones. We’re in a big beautiful house (2700+ sq ft) with a fenced in yard, 2 stories, 2 living rooms (upstairs and downstairs), a big open kitchen, an extra garage fridge so we don’t have to worry about what we can fit. There will be 2 open bedrooms and a good sized extra open room downstairs that serves as a great office (it’s pictured as a dining area in the pics). Rent for whomever joins us would be $1325/month plus 1/2 of utilities. We got a great deal on the property in 2020 and our landlords have been really great about only increasing it by what the taxes have been doing. The yard is usually quiet and peaceful with the songs of birds and Cicadas. We live on the top of a hill that feels very safe for walking and jogging, there’s lots of biking trails nearby and safe wide roads to bike on. I have a stationry spin bike here as well. (Pictures: some of the pictures are older pics, and the rooms will be empty. The clearest images are new.) The house has a total of 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms (2 full). About the 2 open bedrooms: the pictures do not do them justice. All bedrooms are upstairs. One of the open bedrooms is pretty big, with a smaller walk-in closet. The other open bedroom is smaller with a big long walk-in closet.

About us: I’m mom to my 9 y/o son full-time. He’s high energy and loves to be social. We’re vegetarian. (I’m 49 and he’s 9.) I meditate as much as I have time for, like lots of music, have the occasional beer or glass of wine, and am pretty left-leaning politically (or green party). I drive a lot around Austin for work and use one of the downstairs front open rooms as an office. We have the office rooms curtained off for privacy, but they are not soundproof (one will be for the housemate). I cook often and enjoy making food for friends on occasion. We don’t need the housemate(s) to to be vegetarian, but if they were, that would be cool. (Previous house-mates have not been vegetarian, but they weren’t cooking raw meat every day either, so it worked out well.) A well behaved dog +/or cat would be welcome too. We have a sweet young cat. I’m tidy and my kid mostly is as well, at least outside of his bedroom.

I’m looking for someone that’s mentally in a good place, has good credit & housing history (so my landlord won’t turn it down), and to be someone that we’d get along well with. I have had good luck with housemates in the past and they’re each still good friends.
