Half Basement in 100-yr-old Crown Hill house. 10 x 12’ private room with shared living room/kitchenETTE (not full) and 3/4 bath (shower stall). House is on a residential street near D bus and 5 blocks from Safeway. A downside is that I have 2 dogs, and one of them barks pretty frequently and will serenade you through the window as you pass from your separate entrance to the front gate. Utilities can get as high as $140 a month in winter and drop as low as $65 a month in summer.

This is my house, but your roomie would be Matias, who is from Mozambique and whose Portuguese is better than his English. He’s been here several years, works in the daytime, and cooks dinner for his two teens most Sunday or Monday nights. I (Louisa) am sober in AA, so on the lease will be stipulations of no drinking more than an OCCASIONAL beer, zero marijuana smoked or eaten, zero drugs of any kind other than medicinal. Also stipulated per lease will be responsible recycling and composting. If you’re sloppy with that stuff (e.g. food/grease in the recycling, plastic in the compost bin) I’ll see it and object. Utilities not included and are steep in winter.
