We’re looking for a 3rd person or a couple to fill a master bedroom in our house in the Brentwood-Darlington Neighborhood in Southeast Portland, just southeast of the Woodstock area. We’re one single guy (A- 32) and one single gal (A - 28) hoping to find a 3rd roommate (or couple) who can be a fun addition to the household. Our preference is either a single female roommate or a couple.

Rent is $795 per month plus utilities (we split utilities 3 ways if there’s 3 people, 4 ways if there’s 4). Asking for first month’s rent and deposit equivalent to first month’s rent as well as credit screening fee (and pet deposit if applicable). This all needs to be upfront in full, sadly we don’t have any flexibility here because that would mean we’d be fronting the money for you ourselves. The landlord’s credit screening needs a 500 or higher credit score. A background check will be run by the landlord as well, which is $47 (non-refundable). Lease is month-to-month which is sweet but we’re trying to find someone who’s a good fit and would like to stay long term. We’ve both lived here for years and neither of us want to move anytime soon.

Room is 12’ x 16’ - plus a huge walk in closet, private bathroom and sink area. According to online rent calculators and current listings, we should be asking over $1,000 per month for this room, so we think getting a space this nice and this big for $795 per month is a pretty killer deal.

Litter box trained indoor cats are ok, we both love cats. There is a refundable pet deposit of $400, maximum one cat. They need to be easy on the house, no scratching everything or tearing things up.

The House: The house itself is pretty nice. Has a decent-sized fenced-in backyard with a lawn, deck, and a super nice garden area that we use and maintain - you’re welcome to plant there also. We have a fire pit and patio furniture and love doing summer get-togethers out there with the roommates or friends (Prior to the disaster of the pandemic. Since then, we have tried to be cautious, and are slowly getting back to more normal feeling social lives again). Huge living room with a fireplace and vaulted ceiling, huge comfy couches that are amazing to lounge on, high-speed Wifi, nice roomy kitchen with lots of counter space and storage. Overall it feels cozy and kept up. We’re super open to you decorating the common spaces to make it a communal space where everyone likes to hang out!

We’ve lived here for the past few years with our roommates (a couple) that are moving out. We will miss both roommates very dearly, and honestly feel they may be impossible to replace. No dogs, landlord’s rules at the moment. Landlord might be ok with a cat again but would prefer no pets. Well-behaved dogs visiting on occasion with friends or significant others is generally fine, just let us know ahead of time.

The neighborhood is very bike friendly, A-32 bike commuted to his job in downtown Portland every day for 5.5 years before changing jobs. It’s a quiet lower/middle income working class neighborhood, and very peaceful generally. We live 7 minutes away from two different Trader Joe’s (which is gold, let’s be honest), and are super near a lot of other places to shop (Winco, Freddies, etc). Grocery Outlet is walking distance. Bus lines easily accessible, and the Max Orange Line light rail train is only a 6 min drive away. The Woodstock area is full of cool / modern bars, restaurants, and places to eat (Double Mountain Brewery, the Proper Pint, etc).

Your Room: Huge master bedroom with vaulted ceiling and fan, nice south-facing window view of the backyard and the garden, best bedroom window view in the house. Lots of light and feels super open and cozy. Large walk-in closet and your own bathroom located within the bedroom, no shared entrances with anyone else. It is unfurnished but the pictures attached show it with the furniture currently in.

You have half the driveway to yourself, and half of the super nice attached garage. You’re welcome to park in the garage or use it as storage, or both! One of us uses the other half of the garage for a woodshop and outdoor gear / bikes / mountaineering equipment.

You: Ideally around our age, responsible, clean, friendly, communicative, non-smoker (cigarettes or pot, this is non-negotiable). If you enjoy hiking, the outdoors, fitness, outdoor recreational sports, bikes, laughing, making other people laugh, good conversation, reading great books, fantasy (TV or books), or are generally just a reasonable and responsible adult you’ll be stoked to live with us, and us with you!

We both have full time jobs and busy lives. We’re clean, quiet, considerate, and good communicators. We would love to live with someone who we both get along with as we have great household vibe and would love to keep it that way. However, that would just be a bonus and we totally respect your privacy as well. Introverts and extroverts welcome.
