Ditmars Boulevard

Hello! We’re two roommates looking for an additional roommate to fill a very large bedroom in our two-story house in Astoria starting on July 1. We’re closest to the Ditmars N/W stop, which most people can walk to in ~5 minutes. (And after that, it’s just 30 minutes to midtown.)

The room:

• Spacious, at about 11’ x 14.5’!
• Two big windows, nice hardwood floor, and a wardrobe — no closet, but there’s one in the hall for your exclusive use.
• Shares the first floor with the living room, kitchen, and ½ bathroom.

The house:

• On the second floor are the other two bedrooms, a full bathroom, and a small office (currently used for yoga, storage, and just chilling out).
• Small outside deck where we do a bit of gardening, and you’re welcome to as well!

We’re seeking:

• A working professional who pays the rent on time; is mindful, clean, communicative, and doesn’t bring the party home.
• Steady job or income is required. Creative types with a sense of humor are welcome.
• Please, no couples, no smokers, and no pets. No subletting/AirBnB.
• Please be vaccinated/boosted. The neighborhood:
• Quiet and safe, with a little bit of everything: diverse restaurants/cafes, bars, the library, community composting, indie and chain stores, gyms, yoga, a vibrant Buy Nothing group… and eventually, a Target!
• You can get to LaGuardia Airport in ~10 minutes by car. Astoria Park is also just a short walk away.

The nitty-gritty:

• First month’s rent and one month’s security deposit required to move in.
• Proof of income and references required.
• Depending on the season, utilities run around $100 a month (this includes electricity, wi-fi, shared cleaning items, etc., and a cleaning person who takes care of all the common areas monthly).
• We’ll prioritize someone who wants to stay for at least a year.

Us:

• One male and one female roommate (not a couple) with full-time office jobs — one works from home full-time with a hybrid schedule pending. The other is currently on a hybrid schedule, WFH twice a week.
• Both vaccinated and boosted.
• We like a calm, peaceful house with only occasional overnight guests (no live-in significant others).
• We’re laid-back, easygoing, environmentally conscious, and mostly vegetarian. We try to spend a lot of time out and about while remaining covid-cautious, and enjoy theater, film, and being active.
• We like to keep the place neat (aka no overnight dishes) and quiet at night.
• We’ve both lived here for several years and have a good relationship with the landlord, who lives right next door.
