Seeking one responsible, friendly, and clean roommate for a fully furnished bedroom available starting mid-March or April 1 for month-to-month sublet. Longer term stays preferred. $1500/month including all utilities. $1300 deposit. Includes access to shared space in the garage that can be used for sporting gear storage, band practices, or a small art/crafting studio.

Located in a cute mid-century house with high ceilings and open floorplan common space 6 blocks from the beach! Short walking distance to DLI, Aquarium and Cannery Row. Approximately 30 minute walk to downtown Monterey and MIIS or a 5 minute drive. Short drive to NPS and MPC! Super safe and friendly neighborhood up on a hill overlooking the Monterey Bay. The total living space is approximately 940 square feet plus approximately 100 sq ft of storage in the garage. The bedroom is 9 ft x 12.5 ft (112 sq ft plus a closet).

You don’t need to bring anything but your suitcases for this place! If you like to cook and entertain, this is a dream setup! The kitchen is nicely furnished and has a gas stove and dishwasher. You’ll be able to use my air fryer, microwave, stand mixer, instant pot, toaster, BBQ, and other cooking equipment. The bedroom is furnished with a comfortable full-sized bed (2 year old Serta mattress and solid wood bedframe), desk, chair, nightstand, a small and large bookshelf, large closet, lamp, TV, and Flex streaming box. The room has a large window with a screen, blinds, and blackout curtains. (The artwork and rug in the bedroom belong to my current roommate and are not included. You are welcome to decorate the room to your liking!). There is room in the garage for sporting equipment such as SCUBA gear, bicycles, and/or surfboards. You’ll also have full access to my newish LG washer/dryer set. There is a large patio with a charcoal grill, fire pit, chairs, and a table. Additional patio plants are welcome! There is a single shared bathroom. Occasional overnight guests are welcome and there’s a futon in the living room for guests.

My landlord will not allow additional pets in the house (I have 1 dog and 3 guinea pigs), but an ESA or service animal with proper documentation is welcome. My dog gets along best with submissive or non-confrontational medium to large dogs. (She’s an alpha and a bit older, but enjoys living with other dogs). The house does not have a fenced yard, but there are two nice dog-friendly parks within a few minutes walk.

I host a semi-monthly house shows in the living room featuring live music by local musicians (check out @thebirdhouse_monterey on IG). Think NPR “Tiny Desk” concerts with a 20-30 person audience if you’re not familiar with house shows. These are very tame (but fun) events where everyone goes home by 11pm. I also regularly host small dinner parties or brunches for my friends. If you’re new to town, you’ll meet a lot of great people while living here!

You’ll be sharing the house with just me. I’m a single 38-year old female. I work full-time as a wildlife biologist for a federal agency, typically working from home 2-3 days a week. I’m a non-smoker. I drink occasionally, but not in excess. I’m extroverted, relaxed as a roommate, and easy to get along with. I enjoy having company over and hosting dinner parties. I like to hike and camp, see live music, paddleboard, and hangout at the beach on the weekends. I’ve lived in this house for about 2 years and love the house and the neighborhood. Hopefully you’ll love it too!
