About the room

Housemate wanted to share three-floor unit in unattached, two-family home in downtown Jersey City. It’s an historic neighborhood close the waterfront which has become a haven for New Yorkers seeking a safe, clean area where they can escape Manhattan’s high rents, and yet still be close to the City. Long-term, one year minimum.

The house is a located in walking distance from the Path Train’s Grove street station.

Located near one of the busiest shopping areas in Jersey City, there are numerous grocery stores, shops, bars, cafes, doughnut shops, delis, banks, pharmacies, hair saloons, gyms, liquor stores, bakeries, household stores, drug stores, laundromats, fast food places, and traditional restaurants in the area. There is even a Krispy Kreme and a massage parlor!

Just note: This is a walk-up and the stairs are about three feet wide. It is also not wheelchair accessible.

This unit is a 4 bedroom, three full bathrooms. Common areas include a full kitchen area complete with the usual cooking implements (we have pots, pans, dishes, a microwave, and a new stove), a living room for socializing (if you are into that sort of thing), a forward family room with a small outside balcony, and bathrooms on the first, second, and third floor. The third floor sun deck has an awesome view of the city.

Your room would be a private top floor, unfurnished, 120 square feet space, with wood floors, windows, and a skylight. Painted just a year ago. The room is on its own floor separated from the others, right next to the sundeck door. It also has its own private bathroom with a new sink, exclusive to your use.

Utilities (electricity, heat, gas) are shared by all housemates and split four ways - typically falls somewhere between $50 to $75 a month per person, depending on the time of year. Wifi is fast, free, and reliable.

Single occupants are preferred at this time; though, guests staying over-night is no problem, so long as they are respectful and clean. 420-friendly, but no tobacco smoke.

Landlord Necessities:

A short application required. All applicants must have valid ID and a verifiable full-time job to pass landlord requirements at the time of acceptance. There is no credit check, but employment and background checks are conducted by landlord at their discretion.

Available to move in by the 2nd of April.

Corona Apocalypse Protocols:

Given that the move is during the pandemic, we request that PRIOR to moving in, the housemates are provided with paperwork indicating that you have been vaccinated for COVID-19. All current housemates have been vaccinated.

About the roomies

Your housemates would be 3 youngish, clean, adult, employed, respectful, liberal, enlightened, friendly people (two females and one male); and 2 lovable feline overlords, unemployed, who are non-intrusive, but have free range of the common areas - so take this into consideration if you are allergic to cats or suffer from ailurophobia. No plans to admit additional pets at this time. Though, if you are a minion to a single feline, we are willing to discuss.
