South Street

Hey there! We’re posting our lovely space at 218 South St in Jamaica Plain, available April 1st. It’s a large bedroom in a 3-BD, 1-BTH apartment on the top floor of the beautiful, professionally-managed Fordham Court. If you’re a student interning for the summer or young professional starting out in Boston, or just looking for a nice place closer to downtown for a great price, this is the place for you. The whole apartment is over 1000sq-ft with a recently renovated kitchen, large pantry, and spacious living room with couch and large windows. You’ll have your own spacious bedroom has three massive windows overlooking Jamaica Plain. Best of all, you’re a few minutes walk from a bunch of shops, the center of vibrant JP and right across the intersection from the beautiful Arnold Arboretum, which is the perfect place to go walking, hang out with friends, etc. during the summer. There are fantastic walking/biking paths behind the building—what’s known as the Southwest Corridor—that go all the way to downtown Boston. Honestly one of our favorite spots in Boston of all time and quite a special place, we’ll miss it a lot but we’re happy to rent it out to the right person :)

Logistics details: We are looking for someone to take over the lease from April move-in until it ends in August 31.

• Heat + water included in rent.

• Electricity, gas, and internet are paid for separately (usually $20-50/month per person, depending on usage). We’re happy to leave an AC unit for you if you wish!

• Approval of transfer of lease is contingent on background and credit checks and income verification by property management, as well as payment of below deposit and any additional fees.

• The upfront deposit includes a security deposit of $935 + last month’s rent of $935 for a total of $1870. We will pro-rate rent for April!

• We’re willing to leave the room furnished (will include a full-sized bed-frame, desk, dresser, and night stand) if desired.

• You are allowed to bring pets conditional on having paperwork and paying a fee (unless they’re an emotional support animal; the couple, for instance, has an emotional support kitten).

• There are coin-operated laundry machines in the basement of the building. If we don’t have quarters, we typically take our laundry to the nearby Roslindale laundromat.

• There’s free parking on both sides of South Street, as well as neighboring streets. There’s also parking at the back of the apartment for a fee to the property management company.

As we are looking to move late March, we’re aiming to rent this out ASAP, so please ping me if you’re interested! I’m happy to answer any questions or concerns :)

You’ll be rooming with a teacher and an artistic couple (a makeup artist + fashion designer), all of which are either in school or working professionals, and are always doing their own thing. They’re all intelligent and passionate people who I’ve had great discussions with.
