About the room

The house: the house is huge and solid. We don’t hear each other much when we are in our rooms with doors shut (although none of the current tenants are very loud). Fenced backyard with covered patio, and a silks rig in the summertime. We look forward to setting up a backyard theater with our projector and tri-fold mattress as the weather warms up. The front yard has two garden beds. We aren’t sure if we’re going to commit to gardening this year, but you are more than welcome to!

The large main room is half living room, half home-gym. We’ve got free weights, resistance bands, a bowflex, pull-up bar, dance pole, hula hoops, etc. J provides virtual personal training 5 - 10 hours per week in this space. As long as you can take care of the equipment, you are welcome to use the space, too! We have had some fun housemate workouts in the past.

We also have a large, unfinished basement for storage and laundry. J stores a lot of donations in the basement, but there is still plenty of space down there.

The room: there are two bedrooms of equal size on the main floor, and one room upstairs. The upstairs room is far longer/wider than the downstairs rooms, but it is fairly short (it’s a converted attic space). If you are taller than 5’5“ or so, it will probably not be feasible for you. It also gets a bit hotter in the summer and colder in the winter, and does not have any grounded outlets. In terms of temperature control, we have an AC unit devoted to that room in the summer, and there are some things that can be done to help mitigate the extra heat (like installing insulated/blackout curtains).

Since the upstairs room is a little less comfortable, we’ve decided to give the person who lives up there a $70 discount on rent. If you are not up for living in the upstairs room, one of us is willing to move up there to free up a downstairs room. The upstairs room will be $548.33/month, downstairs room will be $618.33/month. All of this is assuming our landlords don’t raise our rent. We rent from a wonderful couple (not a property manager). They have been wonderful to work with, and have promptly fixed the one thing we’ve needed in this house so far. Utilities will be split 3 ways.; we each pay an average of $160 or so per month in utilities.

You: a good fit in our home is incredibly important to us, and we can afford to wait for the right person. We would love to share our space with folks who are into (or are into learning) silks, pole dancing, fitness, mutual aid/volunteering, astrology (K is fluent in it! Ask her anything), healthcare, bodywork, gardening, houseplants, and/or healthy, happy, communal living. We have loved learning and growing together in this house, and are hoping to share the space with someone excited to join that journey.

About the roomies

We are J (she/her) and K (she/her), two very close friends who have lived together for a few years now. The third room in the home we rent in SE (Mt. Scott/Arleta neighborhood) is opening up on June 1, 2021.

We both work in healthcare and are fully vaccinated; we still keep a small COVID bubble, and are looking for a housemate with similar intentions. We are clean, respectful, responsible, and strive to be considerate, compassionate housemates. We have a chores schedule and clean the house every week; we pay all bills on time always; and we communicate clearly and honestly with one another. If you’re in the habit of leaving your stuff all over common areas, this will unfortunately not be a the right place for you.

We have two dogs (and one of us has a pet snake in a secure tank). One dog is about 70 pounds, and the other is about 20 pounds. Obviously we are totally nuts about them, and all of the housemates we’ve had so far have also fallen in love with them. We unfortunately can’t have another pet in the house. 420-friendly, LGBTQIA+ friendly, kink + body positive, mixed-diet household. We are both considering dipping our toes into OF and MV content creation this spring, and are aiming to keep a pretty photogenic household. We’re excited to find a respectful, open-minded housemate, and would welcome another creator.

J: I am 34 years old, bisexual, ethically non-monogamous, personal trainer and massage therapist by trade. I love living an active lifestyle, and deeply enjoy communal living. I volunteer every week, and source + distribute a lot of donations for friends experiencing houselessness in Portland. In my free time I love jogging, hiking, learning pole and silks, and spending time with my partners (all of whom are vaccinated).

K: [to be updated soon; she’s studying right now.]
