About the room

Available Immediately:

2 rooms, each 12’x12’ with a bay window kickout, available in ~1200 sq ft apartment in Pac Heights. First come first serve for your choice of two rooms. Ideally I’d like to rent to two friends looking for a place, or a couple (and if you’re a couple looking to move in, rent would be $1557 if you only take one room and we’d have a room to use as a guest room/shared space/workout space/office, whatever), but two strangers that are cool with moving in with two other strangers - works for me. Fully furnished living room, living room and kitchen overlook Lafayette Park, brand new dishwasher and gas range in the kitchen, 1.25 bathrooms (full bathroom and a closet toilet), and lots of space. You’re welcome to paint your walls, decorate your space, and contribute to the common area decor as you see fit. The carpet and room cleanliness won’t look like the photos, both are going to have the carpet steam cleaned this weekend… One of my roommates worked in the restaurant industry, they both just moved out, and I haven’t had time to make the rooms ‘posting on the web pretty’ yet. The place is epic in person.

Me: 43 y/o straight male, 420/LGBTQIA friendly, punk at heart, former professional chef + DJ/Krav Maga instructor/scuba instructor, and life experience explorer in my spare time, who’s now in the business consulting world and hate it but it pays the bills. COVID negative and take the situation seriously. I’m happy to share space with y’all, cook meals together, and hang out given the current situation/pandemic as long as you follow the rules we currently live under. All I honestly ask is that you keep the common areas clean, absolutely no hard drugs in the home, no ‘live-in’ partners, and be respectful. I don’t care about your age, skin color, political beliefs (other than MAGAists - GTFOH), sexual preference, or religious beliefs - I’m an atheist but respect everyone’s personal choice of deity as long as it doesn’t infringe on others. I care about you being mature enough to live here, respect everyone’s privacy, individuality, opinions, and help to take care of this awesome place.

The place: I’ve been here 14 years and am still in love with it. The building was built in 1934, it has the original crown molding in both the apartment and building, old school sliding grate elevator, magnetic security door to the lobby, updated security cameras watching all the common areas, and fully seismically retrofitted. Kitchen is fully stocked with all the toys - sous vide, instant pot/air fryer, cast iron, bitchin knives, absolutely killer gas range, dishwasher, baking tools, convection/rotisserie toaster oven, microwave, etc. Working with building management to get the medicine cabinet replaced in the main bathroom and also negotiating new tile for the kitchen walls (but no increase to the rent - my maintenance/handyman and manager are cool as hell and are on my side when it comes to upgrades to the place). The living room is fully furnished with a bookshelf full of board/group games, 50“ HDTV with damn near every streaming channel plus Comcrap cable (currently), PS4, dining table for four, sectional couch, and I have a small tabletop hydroponic garden setup growing mostly chiles and herbs/spices but open to growing your faves as well. I’m personally anti-tomato but if you want them grown for you, I’m down. The apartment has killer high-speed internet as well since I don’t use Comcrap’s modem/router - I’ve got my own setup that provides a much better connection. And cable TV is available in both rooms and ready to go as well if that’s your thing. There is a laundry room in the building, we have two washers and two dryers that you gotta pay for, but for a 16 unit building it’s usually pretty easy to get laundry done. Oh yeah… there is also a 15 year old kitty in the apartment but since she was grandfathered in, no other pets are allowed unfortunately. She’s old, she’s cranky, and will probably take a while to warm up to you, if she ever does. But she’s awesome once she gets to like you… And if you’re interested, I’m happy to put you in touch with my former roommates so you can get a better sense of the place and me.

Rent for each room is $1038/month plus utilities (~$100/mo - $50 for cable/internet and $20 - $50 per month for electric/gas) plus $1500 deposit. Easy walking distance to Mollie Stone’s, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, Fillmore St, Polk St, Lafayette Park is across the street, on the #1 MUNI line, building is quiet, neighbors are chill, and it’s a great neighborhood.
