Torie's room

My roommate and I are seeking a new roomie for our hidden gem in East Austin (seriously, this is the kind of place that is getting harder and harder to come by in Austin.) This is for a 12-month lease.

Cozy and with tons of character, this three-bedroom house features hardwood floors, high ceilings and windows that let in plenty of sunlight. The house has central AC, central heat and an in-house washer and dryer. The house features a front and back porch, two-car driveway and street parking is also available. The house has a spacious yard with a giant old pecan tree.

The room is $817/month (bills not included) and is spacious, has wide windows, a ceiling fan and ample closet space. The bedroom shares a bathroom featuring a bath, shower and, ya know, all the other standard amenities. The house is a 10-minute bike ride to E 6th and on Chavez, about 20 or less to downtown. We’ve also got easy access to North Loop thanks to being right off Airport. Justine’s Brasserie is literally in walking distance. The street is pretty quiet and is mostly families (however, it’s by no means uptight.)

About me (Torie) and Billy - we are both in our 30s, are fun-loving and open-minded. We geek out over food, cocktails and movies. We’re also certified nerds who love fantasy. We are super social but also enjoy our downtime.

Billy works in the local food/bev industry. I work at a local film non-profit. My schedule is 9 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday with some evenings and weekends baked in for events. I go into the office a couple weekdays varying week to week, the rest of the time I work from home in my room. Billy is the GM at a high-profile restaurant on South Congress. He works evenings and is off on Sundays and Mondays. In terms of the culture of the house, I’d call it laid-back but still “keeping our shit together” as reasonable adults.

Below is more on what we are looking for in a roommate. PLEASE READ THE BELOW CRITERIA BEFORE YOU APPLY:

• Seeking someone the age of AT LEAST 28 and up.
• Tidy but not clean freaks (i.e. a dish in the sink for a day is NBD), be respectful of common areas.
• Please no firearm owners. We are not comfortable with guns in this house.
• Unfortunately, no dogs or cats. The place has a strict no pet policy.
• The house is a safe space. We are Pro-choice and firm supporters of the LGBTQIA+ community. Basically, we are not huge fans of Texas’s current political climate :)
• Be ON TIME for all bills and rent.
• Be respectful of schedules and exercise reasonable quiet during nighttime hours.
• 4/20 friendly.
• If you have a significant other that’s cool. We just request it be kept 50/50 (so split it evenly between your boo’s house and here)
• Overnight guests, again cool - just be respectful of others in the house
• Cigs are cool, just smoke outside.
