My life and career have always been a kaleidoscope of passions: my love of writing woven together with my loves of editing, of teaching, of forming close interpersonal connections, of advocating for the things and people I believe in, of nerding out. For the first decade of my career, I balanced jobs in the creative, publishing, and marketing fields, and I enjoyed every one of them. Then, in April of 2022, I contracted a disabling case of Long COVID. More than four years later, I’m just now beginning to pick up the pieces of my life.

Medically, I’m to a point where I no longer have to rely on my parents (yeehaw) but still could use another person to help split up housework, grocery shopping, etc.—any chores that require too much standing. I’m a solid cook and baker, however, and so long as I can pull a chair up to a sink, I’ll be cleaning dishes every night. In general, I’m a very organized person, thought I don’t mind a little clutter. I work as a writer and a teacher, both in person and remote, and I attend a few writing groups and perform improv here locally, so I’m out of the house most evenings. During the day, I’m writing or reading or writing about what I’m reading (I’m a book reviewer as well).

I have two darling long-haired black cats, one of whom will immediately become your dog (Benji), the other of whom will become your shadow after a few months (Toast). They’re both 5 and exceptionally well behaved, including with other animals. Benji will make it his life’s purpose to befriend every single living creature in the vicinity, and Toast will simply roll onto her back and cry pitifully if she’s overwhelmed. I’d donate a kidney to them each.

I don’t play any instruments, but I do sing and love music generally. I’m a morning person, typically up by 8, and generally go to bed by 11, though I’m not opposed to a late nighter. I drink socially, smoke weed medically (and also recreationally), and love to dance / go to karaoke / do trivia. I also throw pottery, but I won’t be too much of a mess about it (not without cleaning up at least) and I’m happy to take requests!
