36-Year-Old California Native Looking for a Soft Landing Back West

Hi, I’m Jackson. I’m a contract administrator for a global company, currently based in the Charlotte area, and plotting my return to Southern California.

I was born in Monterey, have lived in San Diego, West Hollywood, and the Chicago area, and have spent much of my life moving around. New places don’t intimidate me. In fact, if life were a board game, I’d probably have more location cards than most people.

By day, I review contracts and keep projects moving. Outside of work, I’m an avid walker, coffee shop enthusiast, old movie buff, true crime consumer, pop culture junkie, and proud collector of completely useless Bravo knowledge. I can discuss Alfred Hitchcock, The Golden Girls, Duran Duran, and whatever bizarre reality TV scandal happened this week with equal enthusiasm.

I’ve become much more health-conscious in my thirties and spend a lot of time walking, exploring neighborhoods, finding parks, and trying to convince myself that buying another coffee counts as cardio. I’m not much of a drinker these days, though I enjoy the occasional social drink. I’m generally more 420-friendly than cocktail-focused.

Roommate-wise, I’m extremely clean. Not “I say I’m clean” clean. More “Airbnb hosts have actually commented on it in reviews” clean. I’ve lived alone for most of the post-COVID years, but I’ve had plenty of successful roommate situations in the past and generally get along with just about everyone. I’m happy to be social, watch a movie, or chat in the kitchen, but I’m equally comfortable keeping to myself and respecting everyone’s space.

My job offers flexibility, so I’ll likely split my time between working from home, company offices in the area, coffee shops, and exploring Orange County while figuring out where I eventually want to put down roots. I also have friends in Southern California already, so I’m not arriving with nothing but a suitcase and a dream.

Ideally, I’m looking for a furnished room, guest house, casita, ADU, or roommate situation that’s clean, comfortable, and low drama. Good communication, mutual respect, and a reasonably tidy kitchen are pretty much my love language.
