30-year-old aerospace engineer relocating to El Segundo for a role as a Flight Software Engineer at a local space tech startup - coming from 8 years in the industry starting at NASA JPL (mostly focused on Space Telescopes; ASTERIA, SPHEREx, and the James Webb Space Telescope). Also spent 6 months last year in Tokyo working at ispace, another space startup.

I foresee that I’ll be pretty heads-down and focused on work most of the time, especially in my first few months or so (won’t even have a car for a while), and in general, I’m the kind of roommate who’s reliably quiet during the week and genuinely good company (love to make new friends, but don’t see myself “hosting” or whatever anything, anytime soon). Not originally from LA (from the East coast, first-generation in my family from Ireland, am citizen) but have a few friends scattered throughout the area.

I keep my space clean, happily volunteer to clean up in general (I enjoy cleaning, more than cooking but I hope that will change soon), respect all shared areas and requests of my fellow roommate(s), and communicate & healthily directly if anything comes up.

Outside of work I’m big into soccer (prefer futbol), running, snowboarding, exploring new areas/hiking, movies/film, and am slowly working my way back into playing video games when time allows (mostly into Fifa but also into Souls-like games; won money playing Halo when I was in middle school, lol). Plan to find a local futbol league to participate in; Leeds United diehard fan, and am pumped for the World Cup. Planning to learn to surf once I’m settled - so if you know a good spot, I’m all ears. I’ll be getting around by bike initially so I’m not bringing a car into the mix.

I’m relocating pretty lightly so furnished is a plus, but not a dealbreaker. Happy to provide an offer letter - I just accepted a full-time offer and can show proof of income upfront. Straight dude and friendly to everyone, genuinely just looking for a good living situation while I focus on a role I’m really excited about, while exploring more of the South Bay, and meeting new/cool people.
