Hi.

I’m posting to try to find an affordable place to live by early-mid August. After eight years where I am now, I have been asked to depart my residence; the owner has new plans for the building.

About the place I would like to be: In/near town and affordable, perhaps a little rough around the edges, furnished room for rent/trade. I teach English online to adults as a foreign language part-time, so I need a private, quiet place to have classes with good internet. I don’t have a vehicle, though I do have a flawless driver’s license. I would prefer to be near an area with retail/hospitality/other employment very close by, as I would also like to find a second job, and I REALLY would prefer to not spend long commuting. I also need a desk and a comfortable chair, or at least room to put them in a private room.

About me: I’m an early 50s gay, white male with a college degree in sociology. Why do I mention this? I really don’t think it should be that important, but I feel it’s still relevant because I want to minimize friction for those who think it still matters. I usually keep to myself. I don’t need a TV, as I use my laptop and phone for my daily life. In a “past life” I used to watch cooking shows with an elderly woman, and we’d chat, have some wine, and cook things for just us, or sometimes part of her family. That’s entertainment! :) Also, I enjoy animals, especially cats. There are 3 here who are not mine, and I’ll miss them terribly.
