Valarie Taylor

Hi! My name is Valarie and I’m a 50-year-old single woman relocating from Florida to Chicago, originally from North Carolina, and starting a new chapter in life. I’m excited about creating a fresh start. The only person I’ll know in Chicago is my 26-year-old son, who is a professional with his own place, so I’m stepping into a completely new environment and adventure.

I have a Master’s in School Counseling and an EdS in Educational Leadership. After many years in education, I took early retirement to transition into a new professional path. I’ll be starting a 10-month educational fellowship in September, and I’ll also be preparing for the LSAT with plans for law school in Fall 2027.

I’m a Christian and enjoy going to church, but outside of that I’m just an easygoing person who values peace and positivity. I’m looking for a female roommate because I genuinely don’t enjoy living alone. I don’t do drama, negativity, chaos, or toxic environments. Home should feel peaceful, safe, and comfortable.

I’m an introvert, which mostly means I enjoy my own space and downtime, but once I get comfortable I definitely enjoy talking and connecting with people (I’ve been told I can talk quite a bit once I get going 😄). I love music, dancing, comedy, live shows, being outdoors, and honestly anything that gets me out of a building. I enjoy exploring, laughing, and making memories.

I also absolutely love to cook and have been told many times that I’m a really good cook. I can cook just about anything and genuinely enjoy it. Cooking and cleaning are actually stress relievers for me, so I naturally enjoy keeping my space clean and comfortable. I appreciate a home that feels welcoming and taken care of.

Since I’ll be new to Chicago, I’d love to build genuine friendships along the way. I’m looking for someone respectful, mature, easygoing, and kind — someone who values a peaceful home and positive energy.
