I’m a single 33 year old female employed as a teacher. Currently I foster my 6 year old nephew and I’m looking for an affordable place to live. My goal is to find a female roomate and share a three bedroom in McHenry or NW Lake County. In that case I would pay 2/3 and the roomate would be responsible for 1/3. Or I’m interested in getting a two bedroom. In that case my nephew and I would share a room and I would pay 1/2 the rent.

A little about us: I’m a teacher and I just started my paid summer break! That means my nephew and I will be home a lot. I try to keep a clean home and I value open communication. It’s important to discuss roomate expectations and compatability prior to living together.

I imagine this summer a mix of outdoor activities, science experiments, playdates, sports, music events, camping, travel, and some homeschooling. My nephew is wellbehaved, very loving, and a little shy. Sometimes he gets grumpy and acts like a stubborn old man haha! He plays teeball and will be in a few more things throughout the summer. We have a very good relationship. I’ve had him for 5 years. He is overall well behaved, trusting, and happy. I will make sure whoever decides to be roomates is a good fit for him as well. I have a feeling that despite feeling shy, the little guy will actually see this experience as exciting.

As far as myself, I enjoy cooking, listening to music and audiobooks, practicing meditation, dancing at the local community college , exercising, singing in the local choir, and playing board games. I’m respectful, trustworthy, flexible, kind, and sometimes shy. We spend a lot of time at my mom’s house because I drive her home from work and she takes care of my nephew when I go to my activites. It’s not uncommon for us to have dinner there about half the week.

I have a small but solid friend circle and I like to have friends over for dinner every once in a while. Occasionally we drink but if I had a roomate that was in sobriety I would have no problem not drinking in our home. I list that I’m cannabis friendly however I don’t smoke. I would be okay with it if my roomate smoked outside or if they took steps to reduce the smell while in their room. My nephew knows what it is because other family members smoke, but I still believe out of sight is best for him.

I have two lovely cats. One cat is good with new cats, dogs, and people, however my other cat would need to be slowly introduced to new pets. I’m an animal lover and open to living with any animal as long as all the animals get along well!
