Description
Iām looking for a responsible roommate who may be open to finding an accessible place together or considering a living situation that is already accessible.
I have a physical disability and limited ability to do some things independently, so the right fit would be someone respectful, dependable, and comfortable living with a person who uses caregivers. Healthcare, caregiving, CNA, home health, EMT, nursing, therapy, direct-support, or similar experience is a plus, but the most important things are maturity, reliability, communication, and respect.
This is primarily a roommate search, not a full-time caregiving job. Any regular assistance, rent adjustment, paid help, or backup support would be discussed clearly ahead of time and put in writing so expectations are fair and comfortable for both people.
Ideal fit:
- Mature, reliable, responsible adult with stable employment or income
- Healthcare/caregiving experience is a plus
- Comfortable around disability and respectful of independence, privacy, and boundaries
- Open to finding or living in an accessible place
- No smoking/vaping inside, no illegal drugs, no heavy partying
- Clean, dependable, and good with communication
- Likes sports, concerts, going out, laughing, and having fun
- Able to enjoy a relaxed/friendly home vibe while still being responsible
- Able to stay calm and communicate clearly if a caregiver is delayed or an urgent situation comes up
- Comfortable providing references and discussing basic screening steps
Possible backup support, only if agreed upon in advance, may include things like:
- Getting items within the home
- Helping with meals/drinks when needed
- Basic setup or positioning assistance if trained and comfortable
- Possible transfers using medical equipment, only if properly trained, comfortable, and agreed upon in advance
- Calling backup caregivers, family, or emergency services if needed
- Being a responsible person in the home when caregivers are not available
No one will be expected to provide medical care, manual transfers, medication assistance, personal care, or anything outside their comfort level/training unless it is clearly discussed and agreed upon in advance.
The right person would be kind, dependable, respectful, and comfortable living with someone who has a disability without treating it as awkward or overwhelming. Iām easygoing, enjoy sports, concerts, getting out when possible, and having a good time, but I also value a peaceful, clean, safe home.
Serious inquiries only, please.
