Kai Gamlin

My name is Kai (male), I’m am turning 24 this year and am an incoming Grad student at CU in experimental quantum physics.

A little about myself, I am French and German and have quite some shared living experiences. I did most of my Studies in Zürich (4.5 years) where I lived in a really nice 7-Person flat, so communication and cleanliness were key, things tend to become really dirty very fast if people don’t play their part. We had a cleaning schedule with weekly tasks for everybody, I am quite used to labor division for chores in that sense. I don’t think this is necessarily a muss in smaller flat as things can be divided up a bit more organically, but I do like to keep certain things always clean especially when shared with other roommates i.e. kitchen. common spaces, bathrooms, etc… This is quite important to me, especially in the kitchen. I’ve also lived in other shared flats where the atmosphere between roommates wasn’t the best, and it really does make everything less enjoyable and more difficult. Ideally, I am looking for a flatshare to be more than just a practical arrangement. When people genuinely get along and share a bit of a community spirit, the flat feels so much homier and day-to-day life simply runs more smoothly for everyone. That said a flatshare should also respect everyone’s privacy and be a space to retreat and recharge. In general, I am not a huge party person but do like to host dinners with friends and play games from time to time. I really enjoy cooking, I usually cook multiple times a week and try to find time for it, thus my attention to keep the kitchen clean and useable for the next person.

Doing most of my studies in Zürich I also became a rather outdoorsy person, I grew up rather close to mountains, therefore I was trained/forced to like a proper hike or any mountain/nature related adventures. I am always down for any kind of games, German or Swiss card games are always great, happy to teach them, Dourak is also a great card game. I enjoy any kind of ball-related sports. Being an annoying child in my early years I forced my parents to let me try out a bunch of sports. I am jack of all trades and master of none, soccer, volleyball, handball, Badminton, table tennis you name it I probably did it for a short period of time. My latest focus has been mostly volleyball/Beach volleyball. I don’t have any social media so I hope this small text gave you a bit of an impression of who I am.
