Huckleberry Hopper
Male · 31 years · Lighting Designer
Looking in: Portland, Multnomah County, OR.
Description
I’m a Portland-based performer, lighting technician, and creative human building a life around live performance, physical storytelling, and useful work.
My background is in circus, burlesque, dance, partner acrobatics, coaching, small-room live events, technology/innovation work, and — unfortunately — a master’s degree in finance. So I’m somewhere between “emotionally intense artist goblin,” “production tech,” “recovering business-school person,” and “person who can make a spreadsheet if the house really needs one.”
Right now I’m especially focused on lighting/production work for theater, cabaret, burlesque, circus, dance, nightlife, and intimate performance spaces — rooms where atmosphere, timing, reveal, sensuality, and audience tension matter.
As a roommate, I’m looking for a house that feels less like a random rental and more like a calm creative basecamp. I train, write, cook, bike, work on projects, recover my body, and try to become more useful every day. I’m clean, communicative, queer-friendly, and respectful of shared space, sleep, noise, and people’s nervous systems (especially sleep).
I tend to fit best with thoughtful weirdos, artists, makers, performers, musicians, technicians, athletes, underdogs, and people actively building something with their lives. I like homes with a little creative momentum: people making films, rehearsing music, designing shows, writing things, fixing bikes, building props, reading weird books, or plotting their next impossible-but-maybe-possible project.
Basically: I’m looking for good people, low drama, honest communication, and a house with enough calm to rest in and enough spark to keep becoming alive.
