Description
Hi, my name is Ben and I’m a recent UVA grad moving to Annapolis for a job as a receptionist in a legal office (I want to go to law school one day). My go-to icebreaker is that my birthday is doubly overshadowed – first, by my twin sister, and second, by Jesus Christ (I was born on December 25). I like rock music, especially shoegaze (Hum, Narrow Head, Fleshwater, etc.) but recently I’ve also been dabbling in electronic music because I’m a huge Jane Remover fan. I love reality TV and I could watch Dance Moms for hours. In college, I studied abroad in Chile, and it was the best time ever. I met tons of cool people and got to travel to Brazil and Argentina.
Here’s everything that’s relevant to roomie compatibility. I’m a gay man, so I’m much more comfortable around women and I would prefer to room with women. I also grew up in a household that was mostly women, so that probably has something to do with it too. I don’t have any pets but it’s a huge plus for me if you do – I love cats and dogs, and I would be happy to contribute to looking after any pets that you may have. I cook a lot, so I will be using the kitchen a lot, but I tend to leave dirty dishes in the sink for no longer than one night – typically I clean it up the next morning after breakfast. I also bake from time to time, and I love to share cookies with my roommates. I would describe myself as very clean, but I have lived with people who are less clean than me and I’m not the type of person to be bothered by it or to demand that anybody else clean up after themselves. When it’s dishes in the kitchen, I usually have no problem cleaning up after my roommates. I consider myself to be very chill, so I’m not a fan of shared task lists or regimented cleaning routines where we make sure that everyone equally contributes. I prefer to play it by ear and do what I can when I can. I am 420 and cig friendly, though I no longer partake myself. I tend to go to bed very early (9-10 PM), but I’m a deep sleeper, so I have no expectations that the house be quiet by a certain time. The last thing is that I know absolutely no one in Annapolis or anywhere in Maryland, and the closest friends I have are all the way in DC. For that reason, it’s exceedingly important to me that we try to be friends. I don’t want to peacefully coexist side-by-side. I have had lots of different roommates in college, and I managed to be actual friends with all of them, except for the guy I roomed with randomly my first year when I lived on-campus.
