Juan

I’m Juan, in my 30s. I moved to San Francisco from Colombia about five years ago for grad school and to try to work as a designer. These days I’m the floor manager at a spice shop, and do freelance design work on the side. I also volunteer at the California Academy of Sciences (had to choose between this and Muttville) and would love to eventually work behind the scenes on the saltwater exhibits. My current north star is the dream of opening a restaurant.

I’m currently living in a shared 3br 1b in the mission, where I’ve been for the past four years.

Day-to-day I keep pretty active. I work out most days, go on motorcycle camping trips, and usually wake up early (definitely not a night owl). I cook most days and like trying new recipes when inspiration strikes. I also enjoy catching indie rock shows now and then. On the creative side I make colorful wallets by hand and just got a sewing machine for crafting again after a couple years hiatus.

At home I’m easygoing and respectful. I’m not ocd neat, but I lean toward the tidy side and appreciate a clean (especially the bathroom and kitchen), organized house without a lot of clutter. I communicate directly and kindly and try to be thoughtful in shared spaces. I tend to be a quiet mouse with light feet and really enjoy a peaceful home, though I also love a house that occasionally has music in it and a friend or two for dinner. I like knowing the people I live with, but I’m also comfortable giving everyone their space depending on the vibe of the household.
